Topic: What is a clone? ( The students can find some information in Cloning and DNA on page 64) 设计意图:让学生尽快把注意力转移到课堂上来,同时复习一些我们所学到的关于克隆的知识,为这节课的阅读课文Cat Cloned for Christmas 做知识性的铺垫。 Step 2: Presenting reading skills - Scanning(浏览), Skimming(跳读、略读), Careful reading(细读)。 设计意图:让学生在阅读Cat Cloned for Christmas 前对阅读方法有个总体的了解。Step3. Lead the students to read the passage with “Skimming skill”. 设计意图:让学生用刚刚介绍的阅读技巧,结合实际练习,同时可以巩固对此阅读方法的理解。 (一) Choose the best way to complete the sentences.(1). Because many people have sent her frightening letters.(二) Read the passage again and find out what these figures refer to. nine weeks (the age of Julias new cat ) 17 years (the length of time Julia had had Nicky) $50,000 ( the cost of cloning Little Nicky) nearly 100 (the number of frightening letter Julia received) 80 times (the number of times GSC had to try to produce a cloned cat) $20,000 (the cost of cloning a dog in five years time) $10,000 ( the cot of cloning a cat in five years time)(三) Language Points(1) be identical to 与.一致 与.一样 Eg: My working time is identical to yours 我和你的工作时间是一样的。(2)not only.but also. 不但而且(连接两个主语, 就近原则,谓语动词的人称和数的变化和离谓语动词最接近的那个主语保持一致) Eg: She not only plays well, but also writes music. 她不仅会演奏,而且还会作曲。 Not only I but also my parents are fond of watching TV. 不但是我, 而且我的父母也喜欢看电视。 (3) as well as 此外 主语1 + as well as / together with/ with等+ 主语2 + 谓语+ 宾语 (就远原则,谓语动词的人称和数的变化和主语1保持一致) Eg: Jack as well as his parents is going to travel soon. Jacks parents as well as Jack are going to travel soon.设计意图: 重点语法知识的突破可以帮助学生更深层次地去理解所学课文。Step 4. Let the students read the passage again by themselves and find out the main information of the passage.
