Period 3 Reading B&C. Teaching aims and demands1. New language items:Part A: in the reading club, be born, after school, be/come from, tall and slim, like/love/enjoy listening/dancing/swimming, work hard, be good at Part B C : get to know, know sb. Better, make notes about, be polite/helpful/funny 2. Important and difficult points:Get the students to read the text carefully. Make the students know how to read and learn , howto use the expressions they have learn to give personal information .Help the Ss improve the ability of reading. Teaching aids: Computer , recorder , pictures . Teaching procedures:Step 1. Review1. Review the last lesson by greeting the Ss Hi/Hello, Im Whats your name? Good morning/afternoon.2.Ask the Ss to identify the six new friends at Beijing Sunshine Secondary School and try to find out the features of the six characters according to the pictures.AmyThis is Amy. Is she tall or short? Is her hair short ?SimonThis is Simon. Is he tall or short? MillieLook at Millie. Her hair is very short. KittyShe is small. Is her hair long or short? Who was not born in Nanjing? Who works very hard?Step 2. Presentation Part B 11. Ask Ss to talk about the six friends at Beijing Sunshine Secondary School by asking and answering . 2. Ask Ss to finish Part B1 from memory. Tell less able Ss to refer to the profiles on page 8.3. Check their answers with their partners.Step 3. Presentation Part B 21. Ss read the six profiles once more.2. Set this task as a quiz. Divide the class into pairs and set a time limit. The pair who gets all the correct answers first is the winner.3. Ask Ss to correct the false statements.4. Give more able Ss extra exercises.Step 4. Presentation Part C 11. Ss finish a summary of the five characters in Part B according to the form. 2. After they have finished, tell Ss to work in pairs and compare answers.3. Tell Ss to read the passage on page 8 again to check for specific information. Point out that they should not read every word but scan for specific details only. Set a time limit.Step 5.Extension activities1.Ask every student to write a personal profile of a classmate, a teacher or anyone else who is well known to them.2.Ask one of the Ss to read the profile to the class.
