Activity: Get students ready for learning by reviewing the fairy tales theyve learned a few days ago.2. Instruction: 1) Good morning, boys and girls. Welcome to my class and Im so glad to see you again. In todays class, were going to learn something interesting about Robinson Crusoe. Firstly, its the name of a book. Secondly, its the name of this man. So whats the relation between this book and this man? Yes, Robinson Crusoe is the main character of this book.2) Do you know any other books whose titles tell us their main characters? Weve just learned some fairy tales last week (Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood and Hansel and Gretel). Can you briefly tell the stories?Step 2 Leading-in1. Activity: Get students to know the story of Robinson Crusoe by watching a video.2. Instruction: 1) Now lets come back to Robinson Crusoe. Do you know anything about him? Ill give you some basic information about him. Robinson Crusoe was born in a British middle-class family. He was an adventurer and he was always sailing (to travel on or across an area of water in a boat or a ship) in the sea. One day, a terrible rainstorm took his ship apart when he was sailing to Africa and he was trapped in an island alone.2) Can you imagine his life in an island? Is his life enjoyable? Or is the life too hard for him to make a living? Lets watch a short video and find out. There are seven pictures taken from the video. 3) Can you use your own words to describe what happened to Robinson in the video with the help of the pictures? Ill give you five minutes to discuss with your desk mates.Step 3 Language preparation1. Activity: Ask students to read the new words (ship, tool, gun, sand, else, cannibal, towards, land) out loud.2. Instruction: This video is taken from a movie, which is based on the novel Robinson Crusoe.In order to find out more details about Robinsons life on the island, lets read a short passage based on the novel. Before we read the passage, here are some new words we need to pay attention to. Please read after me. Stage II While-readingStep 4 Skimming1. Activity: Ask students to read the passage quickly and answer two questions (What does Robinson Crusoe wait for? Why does Robinson Crusoe call the man Friday?).2. Instruction: Now, please turn to page 59. Listen to the tape and read the passage silently. Then answer these two questions. Have you found the answers? Who can tell us? Can you? Where did you find the answer?Step 5 Scanning1. Activity: Ask students to read the passage carefully and find five words in the passage with certain meanings. This step gives students and opportunity to test their vocabulary.2. Instruction: Lets read the passage again. This time you need to find the words in this passage that have these meanings. Are you clear? Lets check the answers. How about this row? Tell us the answers one by one.Step 6 Scanning1. Activity: Ask students to read the passage carefully and correct six sentences. This step is designed to test students reading comprehension.2. Instruction: Well done! Now theres another task for you. Youll have two minutes to correct the following sentences. Lets begin! I need 6 students to share the answers with us. Please read out the whole right sentence and then translate it into Chinese. Are you clear?Stage III Post-readingStep 7 Review1. Activity: Ask students to close their books and complete the summary of the story of Robinson Crusoe.2. Instruction: 1) After reading the passage for three times, I believe youre quite familiar with it now. So close your books and fill in the blanks quickly. Who would like to share your answers with us? Please read the phrases after me.2) Look at the highlighted words. Do they have anything in common? Can you try to tell us the common feature of these sentences? The predicate verbs have the same structure. Have/has plus the past participle of the verbs. This is a structure of a new tense called present perfect tense.3. Material:Step 8 Consolidation1. Activity: Listen to a song of Westlife which is full of present perfect tense so that students could get a better understanding of it, and then complete the lyrics.2. Instru
