My topic is taken from New Senior English Book 2, Module 2 No Drugs. I have been ready to begin this presentation from the following parts.I. Analysis of the reading material II. Teaching procedures IAnalysis of the reading materialThe reading in this module shows the dangers of taking drugs through listing the facts of drug taking. For the sake of the health of human beings, the text gives us an example of a teenager who takes drugs.The passage is very important in educating the teenagers to take care of their lives.II. Analysis of the Ss:There are many smokers around the students and they have heard a lot about drugs. Students are familiar with some knowledge and expressions about this topic, so their interests can be easily aroused.III. Learning aims:1. Knowledge aims:(1) To be able to accumulate some words or expressions about drugs and express them easily.(2) To learn how to deal with difficult sentences (3) To get to know how to put what they learned into practice.2. Ability aims:(1.(1) To use scanning, skimming to obtain and deal with information.(2) To improve the ability of co-operation and solving problems individually3. Emotion aims (1) To know the dangers of smoking and taking drugs; to keep away from drugs and take care of their lives.(2) To enjoy the happiness of learning English with classmates.4. Cultural awarenessTo learn to increase the awareness of self-protection, and stay away from drugs.5. Learning strategiesTo develop the ability to analyze; to learn how to express different emotions using appropriate tone of voice. IV. Important and difficult points1. Teaching important pointsTo let the students know the words, phrases, and sentence patterns about taking drugs and stopping taking drugs.2. Teaching difficult points Let the Ss realize that they must keep away from drugs forever.Teaching methods Fast reading, careful reading and discussion. VI. Teaching Aids:Multi-media, BlackboardVII. Teaching ProceduresStep1. Leading- inAt the beginning of the class, I will show three pictures of famous stars who were arrested by the police because of taking drugs, let the students talk about these pictures, to lead in the topic of this lesson.Meanwhile, they have a brainstorming: what harmful effects does taking drugs have? Aims: to arouse the Ss interest in the topic and to encourage them to express themselves in English.Step2. Fast reading:Task one:There are two articles on P12. I will ask Ss to read them fast and choose the best title for them.Task two:We have just read the first paragraph of the two articles. Now Lets come to the rest parts of them. Ss are supposed to read parts 1-6 on P13 and decide which articles they belong to. Aims: to improve their skimming skills and grasp the main idea of the two articles.Step3. Careful reading:Now we have got the main information of the two articles. Lets come to the details. Read the passage again to answer the following questions.Aims: to know how to describe an experience in time order; to get important information while reading carefully; to increase the Ss awareness of keeping away from drugs.Step4.Post reading Ask the students to fill in the blanks according to the pictures so that they can have a good command of the passage. Aims: to develop the Ss reading skills and their ability to cooperate with others.Step6. Discussiona. Divide the students into groups to discuss the following topic, then the students show their opinions.Topic: How to get away from drugs for middle school students?a.
