Ltdl Position: Senior Manager of ODM Engineeringl Reporting to: General Manager of ODM Engineering Responsibilities: Subordinate Number and Position:2 Assistant Engineering Managers; 3 Senior Electronic Engineers and 8 Lead Electronic Engineers; 2 Electronic Technicians To lead ODM electronic development team to complete APC & HVA control system RFQ draft design and RFQ BOM creation; to research on new technology platform and to develop the awarded projects from customers. Audit relevant products test specifications and transfer all the technical documentation to plants in BU JI and DONG GUAN for mass production. Drive the team to provide technical support for production and inquiring from customers. Evaluate the team members performance and to improve their capabilities in design and other related skills.Achievements:Product Engineering and Development: New Products Development: Lead the team to complete several customized products development, like Electrolux Group (Australia and Italy Company), Candy, GORENJE, INDESIT and ELMARC. Via cost reduction, drove the team to complete first ODM project in domestic market for T/L W/M control platform development (Series 3 as Entry Level, Series 5 & 7 as Middle Level and Series A as High Level). Completed Touch Sensing Oven Controllers for Electrolux Australia, the touch sensing solution is of high sensitivity and water resistance. Completed two oven control platforms development for GORENJE from Slovenia. Completed Wireless Power Monitor for SNAPDRAGON and high level water boiler control system for Italy BUGATTI. The SBR successful rate of all the ODM projects was 97% and kept margin 5% higher than OEM projects. New Projects RFQ:Regularly complete more than 3 new projects RFQ (Request for Quotation) every month including draft solution evaluation, primary schematics design and RFQ BOM generation, new components sourcing and certification check. To increase RFQ successful rate, a lot effort on design options comparison and competitive products benchmark on performance, cost, manufacturability, and components lead time. With well marketing and industrial information collected and good product reliability and cost effective quotation, RFQ successful rate was raised from 40% to 60%. Technology Platform Development: As an ODM department, accomplish the development of customer required projects is not enough, established a technology platform development team to focus on platforms for T/L, F/L WM Control, Touch Sensing (Including Resistance Type, Capacitive Type, Piezoelectricity Type) Oven Control, HPWH (Heat Pump Water Heater), High Level Water Boiler, Easy Saver(Thermostat), Wireless Power Monitor. Built fine Demo Kits for each platform for marketing promotion, in this way, helped business to get quite a few new projects big order and collaborated with customer on new technology application in their new products. Production and technical Support: Lead the team to perform analysis on rejected samples from customers, design revise will be implemented if any design issues found. The oven controller ELE1501 was designed in 2006 for Electrolux with lots of complaint for no display, MCU latch up phenomena. Though reset circuit design modification, all the found issued were resolved. The risk of canceling order and withdrawing sold products was eliminated.Department Management and Team Building: Team Building: Encourage senior electronic engineers to lead and help the primary engineers on design capability and working skills, which greatly upgraded the whole team development capability and level and experience shared among the team. Senior engineers were requested to take on more responsibilities and fully authorized for project leader. Junior engineers can handle new project with senior engineers to accumulate basic experience and skills. Technician takes the role of PCB layout, samples building and testing to improve technical level. In this way, a pretty powerful team was formed with different team member levels. Section Management: Through weekly update meeting to review development work in the past week and work arrangement for next week, project status, issues, schedule check and sections KPI will be covered. Besides, internal discussion to strengthen team work is encouraged. Work assignments are nailed down based on SMART principles, weekly, monthly and quarterly review helped to improve the projects timely delivery rate to 80%. Powerful control on customer satisfactory rate, engineers planning skills and effective teamwork. Team Skills: Through project driving, project schedule creation to strengthen engineers planning skill and coordination capabilities. Hardware engineers act as project leader, schedule project development plan and design review meetings, resolve issues via cross-function coordination. Electronic Development Process: Strictly follow up the new product development process and carefully check the output and report documentation at each design stage to avoid engineers carelessness during design phase which was demonstrated to other teams among ODM division. Standardized ODM projects DFMEA process for the company, which raised the customers satisfactory rate and products reliability. Due to outstanding performance in the past year, I was promoted as Senior Engineering Manager of ODM Engineering since April 2010. The company was struggling for cost reduction to win a project from a domestic customer (JINLING, Bought by Italy Candy), it had to stand by due to no solution for cost down. The cost reduction approach even came to changing component footprint from 0805 to 0603. Of course, no significant progress! Based on my experience on WM components cost, led my team to work with SBM (Supply Base Management) to adjust our cost reduction direction, soon the BOM cost was reduced from 11USD to 4.7USD. The company awarded the first order from domestic market while keeping 5 percent margin more than OEM projects!From 2006.04 to 2009.01 A.O.
