Master some important words and expressions in this part.3. Consider your preferences and tastes in art.Warming up and Pre-reading:1.Art is the use of painting, drawing, sculpture etc to represent things or express ideas. What other kinds of art do you know? 2. If you could have three of these paintings on the walls of your classroom, which would you choose? Discuss your reasons. These words may help you in your discussion:realistic abstract nature detailed traditional line rich religious unfinished modern color shape 3.Choose the words from Ex2 according to the following explanation.a. containing or including a lot of information or details. b. following ideas and methods that have existed for a long time, rather than do anything new or different. c. show things as they are in real life. d. sincere to believe in a god or gods. e. which contains shapes or images that do not look like real things or people. f. belonging to the present time or most recent time. g. not caused, made or controlled by people. Reading:Step 1 Fast-reading:Before you read a difficult text, its a good idea to skim it quickly to get the main idea. Now read the title and headings, look at the pictures, read the first paragraph and think about the main idea of the text.(1). Whats the main idea of the text? (2).How many styles of Western art are mentioned in the text? What are they? Step 2 Scan the text and do Exercise 1,2,3 of text book on P3.Step 3 Read the text carefully to finish the summary of the text.Styles in Western art have changed many times. Art 1 (受影响) the customs and faith of a people. During the Middle Ages, the main aim of painters was to_2 (表现宗教主题).Artists were interested in creating a feeling of 3 (对的尊敬和爱) God.
