阅读课教学案例与实践新标准Book. Module 4 Unit2Books could be produced more quickly and cheaply本节课教学内容是本单元的第二个课时,主要是有关科学发明改变和推动世界进步的阅读材料。旨在通过阅读激励和鼓舞学生热爱科学,献身科学。Teaching Aims 1. To get information about creation of paper and printing and how these inventions have changed peoples life .2. Training students three kinds of reading skills including. skimming skipping and scanning.3. Enlarging students vocabulary and different cultures across the countries.Vocabulary: look through, be made of, be made from, put against, hold against, as a result, be replaced by, at the beginning of , in a way, compare with, prefer to do rather than do, cotton , wood, ink, introduction ,by hand, CD-ROM.4. Cultivating abilites of searching, correcting, illustrating, speaking and so on. Difficulties: Present perfect passive voice and modal verb passive voice.Teaching Aids: .Multimedia. Teaching procedures.Step1. Lead-in Show the students some pictures of the four great inventions of ancient China. And ask them the following questions: 1. What are they?2. Which is the most important in our daily life?设计说明通过观看图片引出话题,造纸术和印刷术的发明对人类生活的影响,并激活学生有关中国古代四大发明的背景知识,进而激发学生的民族自尊心和自豪感。Step2. Fast Reading Get the students to read the passage and match the main ideas with the paragraphs:a. The world before books Paragraph 1b. The invention of printing Paragraph 2c. Life on paper and in print Paragraph 3d. Technology and books Paragraph 4e. Can books be replaced by computers. Paragraph 5 设计说明通过快速阅读,帮助学生初步感知课文,对整个篇章有个大致了解。通过匹配练习快速地获取段落大意,培养学生良好的阅读习惯。Step3.Intensive reading. Finish the True or False exercises. If its false, please correct it.( )1. Books were expensive and rare and few people learned to read when paper was created.( )2. Knowledge and ideas spread quickly before printing was invented.( )3. When printing was developed greatly in 11 century, books can be produced more quickly and cheaply.( )4. Computers, CD-ROMs and MP3 players are smaller and lighter than books so that books can be replaced easily.( )5. Discussion Work in pairs. Discuss the advantages and disadvanges of books and computes.Books Advantages Disadvantages1. Nice objects to own and hold 2. Often relatively cheap 3. Easy to use 4. Not pleasant to read on screen, so sometimes need to print out 设计说明通过讨论启发学生的思维,让学生比较书本与电脑的优缺点,帮助学生巩固和运用本单元所学的重点知识,为进入下面的辩论环节进行热身。Step 6. Debate.Divide the students into two groups. Have a debate: Can books be replaced by computers or not?设计说明此环节体现了英语在学中用,用中学,以训练学生在具体环境中具体和灵活地运用所学语言的能力,也为下步写作活动做好准备。Step7. WritingTry to introduce an invention which you are interested in it. The following questions may help you to write it. 1. who invented it?2. When did it invented? 3. whats it made of? 4. whats it used for?5. How does it work?设计说明本环节要求学生运用所学的语言材料做事,培养学生的语言运用能力,体现了学以致用的原则。即训练学生说,也训练学生写,听、说、读、写始终贯穿阅读课始末。另外,对如何从阅读材料引申到指导写作也作了积极
