The students can use the questions to get information to improve their listening and speaking abilities.2. To train the students cooperation with their partners.情感目标1. Develop students listening and speaking skills.难点Improve students listening and speaking abilities.教学内容分析This unit helps students make a connection between geography and nature. It aims to lead students to know more about the wonders of the world and learn how to compare facts and figures through some pictures of famous wonders and different kinds of drills. It also cultivates students love for nature.学情分析从知识基础方面看,学生已经有了良好的基础。学生们在小学和七年级两个时期就学习过形容词和副词的比较等级;所以学生对本单元要学习的语法并不陌生。只是以前学习的相关知识都比较浅显,本单元除了讲解的形容词和副词的比较等级之外,还涉及到了比较级表达最高级的用法,可以用来修饰比较级的词,以及如何表示是几倍,多多少的用法。通过练习学生会进一步加深对比较级和最高级的理解并熟练运用。教学方法1. Employ tasked-based approach.2. Autonomous approach and cooperative approach.教学过程Step 1 Lead-in1. Learn new words.1) Teach students to read the new words of this lesson according to phonetic symbols.2) Divide the class into two groups to see which group read more loudly and more correctly?设计意图:为了提高学生的竞争意识和发扬团体合作精神,能以最激昂的热情进入今天的上课状态。2. Ask three students to stand in front of the class. Then other students try to compare their heights by using comparative and superlative.设计意图:现场对比法给学生创设了学习比较级和最高级的情境,激发了学生的学习兴趣。Step 2 Presentation& talk1. Show students four pictures on the screen and teach them how to read the numbers.9,600,000: nine million six hundred thousand; 1,025: one thousand and twenty five;6,671: six thousand six hundred and seventy one;8,844.43: eight thousand eight hundred and forty four point four three.2. Let students read the numbers for three minutes.3. Get the students to read through the pictures in Activity 1a and match the statements with the right picture. Qomolangma the Nile the Caspian Sea the Sahara设计意图: 用图片展示让学生更清楚地看到“珠穆朗玛峰、尼罗河、里海和撒哈拉沙漠”。生动的画面可以使学生开阔眼界,激发学生练习口语的欲望和学习兴趣。3. Practice the conversations like this:A: What is the longest river in the world?B: The Nile.A: How long is it?B: It is 6,671 kilometers long.4. Ask some pairs to act out their conversations. Then choose the best one.设计意图:小组对话的表演形式旨在培养学生逐步形成正规的英语思维能力,训练其英语语言知识的转化能力,树立英语语言学习的主动意识和合作意识。让学生将学习的知识运用在实际生活中,从而体会到学习英语的乐趣。Step 3 Listening1. Go over sentences in 1b and make sure the students know the meanings.2. Listen and complete the task.3. Check the students answers.4. Listen and repeat.Step 4 Practice1. Practice the conversation in pairs in 1c.A: Whats the highest mountain in the world?B: Qomolangma.2. Changes the conversation by themselves with the Nile, the Caspian Sea, or the Sahara.3. Ask some pairs to act out their conversations.Step 5 Listening1. Read the sentences and make sure students know their meanings.2. Listen and number the facts (1-4).3. Listen again to fill in the blanks in 2b.4. Check the students answers.5. Listen and repeat.设计意图:本部分内容重在培养学生听大意和听细节的能力。做题之前应先理解题意,才能在听的过程中抓住重点,提高做题效率和准确率。核对完答案后,再让学生复述听力内容有助于提高学生的语言组织能与运用能力,以及提高学生的听力水平,改善记忆力。Step 6 Language points1. Qomolangma is higher than any other mountain in the world.解析:higher than any other mountain比其他任何山都高,any指“任何一个”,后接单数名词。这种比较级形式可以换为最高级形式,“形容词比较级+than any other+单数名词”相当于“最高级+单数名词”或“形容词比较级+than the other +复数名词”。eg.1) This book is more difficult than any other book here. = This book is the most difficult book here.在这里这本书最难。 2) Asia is bigger than the other continents on the earth.亚洲是地球上最大的洲。2. The Nile is the longest river in the world.形容词最高级常用与由介词in 或of 引起的表示范围的短语连用。若介词后的名词或代词与句中的主语时同一类事物时,则用of短语;当只说明是在某一空间、时间范围内的比较时,则用in 短语。eg. This apple is the biggest of all. Tokyo is the biggest city in Japan.注意:当表达“.之一”、“第几大/小/高/矮.”时用最高级,而不用比较级。造句:亚马逊河是世界第二长河。The Amazon River is the second longest river in the world.3. China has the biggest population in the world. Its a lot bigger than the population of the US.解析:population意为“人口”,作主语时谓语用单数。eg. The population of the town is about twenty thousand. 这个镇的人口大约是两万。拓展:(1)“分数/百分数+ of the population”做主语时,谓语动词用复数。eg. Two thirds of the population of the town are very rich.(2) 对人口提问不用how many/ how much, 而用what或how large/big.Whats the population of China?= How large is the population of China? 中国有多少人口? (3) 表明人口的多少用large/big或small, 不用many/few, much/little.eg. Beijing has a large population.a lot bigger多很多,bigger 是比较级,前面用a lot 修饰。在比较级前面加a lot, a little, much, a bit, sill, even, far等可以用来修饰比较级,表示程度,起强调作用。Step 7 Exercises. 用所给词的适当形式填空1. India is one of the oldest (old) countries in Asia. 2. The population of China is (be) the biggest in the world. 3. Mountain Tai is a lot higher (high) than any other mountain in Shandong. . 句型转换1. The US is not as large as Russia. (改为同义句)Russia is larger than the US. 2. The population of Australia is 19, 300, 000. (对画线部分提问)What isthe population of Australia? 3. The Great Wall is the longest wall. (改为同义句)The Great Wall is longer than any other wall. 4. Qomolangma is the highest mountain in the world. (对画线部分提问) What isthe highest mountain in the world? Step 8 Homework Make up their own conversation
