9A Unit 1 Know yourself教案Task教学目标1学会组织观点并用事例支撑观点。2学会描述某人的性格和能力。3完成一封推荐信。教学内容四会内容 词汇:speech absent 词组:make a speech get oneself more organized be absent from school agree with sb句型:He is not afraid of making a speech in front of many people. We think he has many strong qualities for this position. We think David is the most suitable person to be our monitor. We hope that you agree with us.三会内容词汇:monitor position教学准备稿纸。背景知识该部分向学生介绍如何用英语写一封推荐信。前几个板块已为学生在描写人物的性格、能力方面打下了基础,在正式开始写作前,通过一个蛛网图来帮助学生整理思路和观点。蛛网图的中间是中心思想-课本第18页上是一个特定的人物David;围绕这个中心的是主要观点-课本上上即David的性格;观点的外围是具体的事例说明David如何展示这些性格特征。需要的话,每一种思想都可以衍生出无数气泡。这种方法可以帮助学生列出一篇文章的框架结构,直观地了解自己的想法,理清它们之间的关系,使写作过程层次分明、有条不紊。教学步骤Step I导入1教师告诉学生:Today well learn how to write a recommendation. Before writing, you should make a list of your ideas. Its a good idea to make a spidergram to help you organize your ideas.2 告诉学生:九年级一班要选一位新班长,一些学生想要推荐David。教师说:Class 1, Grade 9 needs a new monitor. Millie and Simon want to recommend David. Why do they want to recommend David? What is his personality?让学生回忆已学的描述人物性格的词汇,然后对学生说:Lets look at the spidergram on page18.Step II 呈现1 让学生阅读课本第18页A部分的内容,教师解释词汇、短语,如:make a speech、 help with our class projects、do extra work、be absent from school, the things he needs to do、get himself more organized。2让学生在A部分中找出描写David性格的形容词,并根据这些形容词和信息具体描述David的性格特点,如:David is confident because he thinks he can do anything if he tries his bestHe isnt afraid of making a speech in front of many people3让学生两人一组根据A部分互相提问,如:(1) Is David hard-working?(Yes, he is)(2) Can you give an example? ( He spends a lot of time helping with our class projects.)(3) David is very clever, isnt he? (Yes. He always comes up with good ideas.)(4)What has David done to get himself more organized? ( He has learnt to use the computer to get himself more organized.)(5)Does David often help other students? (Yes, he does.)(6)Can you give an example?( He will help US with our lessons if we are absent from school.) (7)What do you think of David? (I think he has many strong qualities to be a monitor) 鼓励学生独立思考,告诉他们最后一题只要言之有理,答案没有对错之分。4让学生独立完成B部分的练习,提醒他们参考A部分的信息。学生两人一组讨论 答案,然后让几个学生朗读答案,全班核对并朗读B部分的短文。Step III范文学习1教师说:Why do Millie and Simon recommend David as the new monitor? They think hell be an excellent monitor because he has many strong qualities for this position告诉学生这是一封推荐信,因此在信的第一段要进行整体介绍,开门见山地写明推荐信的目的:推荐David担任我们班的新班长。2推荐信的主体部分可以按推荐人的不同性格特点分段描述,并用具体事例(what heshe diddoes)来说明。3最后一段陈述推荐人的态度。Step IV写作1假设要在本班推选一位班干部,如班长、学习委员等,要求学生两人一组写一封推荐信。2教师鼓励每组学生想出恰当的形容词来描述被推荐人的性格。可以组织小组竞赛,看哪个小组在规定时间内写出最多的描写人物性格的形容词,如:helpful、friendly、confident 、clever、hardworking、organized、easygoing、patient、generous、kind等。3教师给每组发一张A4白纸,让学生模仿第18页A部分的例子,设计一张关于被推荐人的蛛网图,提醒学生写一些具体的事例来支撑自己的观点,如:We think John is very helpful. He is willing to help other students. Last Sunday afternoon, he helped Simon with his physics homework课后可以把这些蛛网图贴在教室墙上展示。4让学生根据完成的蛛网图,模仿Millie和Simon的信,写一封推荐信。在学生写作过程中,教师巡视,学生如有问题,教师及时给予帮助和指导。教师可以挑选一些优秀作品,让学生重新誊写后张贴在教室墙上,或在下一课时向全班呈现并作点评。Sample writing Dear Mr Wang,We are writing to recommend Chen Lan as our new monitor.
