Warming up: Enjoy a song 2. Tell students its the first time to see each other, so the teacher brings them a present. Let the students guess what the present is. Give students some hints.3. Show students a short flash and ask them some relative questions. Make students know some other crimes.Listen to the song and try to relax.Try their best to guess what the present is. Watch carefully and try to understand what the story is about.Let the students relax.Arouse students interest.Keep students curious and get students ready for the task that follows.II.While-task procedure1. Tell students that a burglary happened to a friend of mine Mrs. White. Now the police have arrested the burglar and make students listen to their conversation. 2. Ask the students to tell us their answers.3. As you know, the police have found the burglar. Ask students if they know how Detective Ken helped the police arrest the burglar. Ask students to read the interviews and find the differences between the two peoples stories.4. Ask students if Detective Ken is a good detective and how to be a good detective.5. Ask students what else a good detective should be. Ask one or two students to read the sentences as fast as possible. Then ask one student to read the sentence with pausing. Listen to the recording and fill in the blanks.To find out the correct information.Read the interviews aloud and find what the differences between Michaels story and Andrews story. List the good qualities of a good detective.Listen to the sentence carefully. Then listen to the sentence again. Practice the listening skills and enable them to catch the correct information they need.Check the answers and make sure what the four pieces of jewellery are. Make students practice speaking and while speaking, try to understand the content they read. Find the differences and then know how Detective Ken helped the police to find the burglar.Make students know what a good detective should be.To lead in Talk time. Make students know that we need to add pauses in each question to give the listener time to understand the question. III.Post-task activities1. Ask four students a group. Make interviews with questions words such as “what , who, which, when, where, why , how”. Student 1 and 2 are detectives and student 3 and 4 are burglars.2.Summary Work in groups of four. S3 and S4 pretend that they are burglars and they must make up a false story.
