While were all born with SQ, most of us dont even realize that we have it. Fortunately, you dont have to sign up for classes to learn how to improve your SQ. Here are some simple steps that can lead you to this new level of understanding. Sit Quietly. The process of developing spiritual intelligence begins with solitude(独处) and silence. To relax your spirit, you have to turn down the volume in your busy, noisy, complicatedlife and force yourself to do nothing at all. Start small by creating islands for silence in your day.In the car, instead of reading or doing something else, use the time to think. At work, shut the door to our office between meetings, take a few breaths and let them out very, very slowly. Enjoy the stillness in your home after the kids are finally in bed. Step Outside. For many people, nature sets their spirit free. Go outside to watch a beautiful sunset. If you are walking with your dog, take the time to admire flowers in bloom; follow the flight of birds; watch clouds float overhead. Ask Questions of Yourself. Ask open-ended questions, such as “What am I feeling?” “What are my choices?” or “Where am I heading?” But dont expect an answer to arrive through some supernatural form or e-mail. “Rarely do I get an immediate answer to my question.” says Reverend Joan Carter, a Presbyterian minister in Sausalito, California. “But later that day I suddenly find myself thinking about a problem in a perspective(角度) I never considered before. ” Trust Your Spirit. While most of us rely on gut feeling(第六感) to realize danger, spiritual intelligence pushes us, not away from, but towards some action that will lead to a greater good.65. Which statement is true according to the passage?A. If you want to improve your SQ, you must go to special class.B. Only some intelligent people have SQ. C. SQ pushes us away from some wrong actions.D. Going outside to nature is the only way to improve our SQ. 66. The author mentions the example of Reverend Joan Carter to show that_.A. there are no immediate answers to your questionsB. changing your way of thinking might help you solve a problemC. e-mails cant keeping working out a problemD. the more questions you ask, the better answers youll get 67. From the passage, which one is the most important thing to improve your SQ?A. A peaceful mind. B. Deep thought.C. Spare time and hobbies. D. High spirits.68. The passage is mainly about_. A. advantages and disadvantages of SQ B. the relationship between your SQ and your life C. what your SQ is and in what way it can be improved D. what your SQ is and in what way it can benefit your lifeCClimbing to the Top The year 2013 is the 60th anniversary of the first successful climb to Qomolangma. Do you know why so many people wanted to reach the top of the world? It was breathtaking. It was wonderful and a bit of frightening. It was Qomolangma, the highest mountain in the world. For many years, it has attracted tens of thousands of people who tried to climb its dangerous slopes. During Mays 60th anniversary of the first successful climb, nearly 600 people from around the world, including a 5-year-old Italian boy, tried to reach the “roof of the world”. China Central Television(CCTV) also sent a team to join the adventure. It broadcasted a special program, called “Standing at the worlds third pole in 2013”, from May 18 to 24 to cover the Chinese climbing Qomolangma. Over the last century, the 8848-metre-high peak has proven a great challenge for mountaineers. Those who try to stand on top of the world do so at great risk from extremely cold, avalanches(雪崩), and falling ice. At 8,500 meters, the air contains just one-third of the oxygen at sea level, requiring most climbers to use oxygen tanks. Some of those who climbed the mountain paid the highest price-175 people have lost their lives on the slopes. On May29, 1953, Sir Edmund Hillary from New Zealand and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay from Nepal became the first men ever to reach the top of the mountain. Nearly half a century later, the sons of the two pioneers, Peter Hillary and Jaming Tenzing Norgay, followed in their fathers footsteps. In 2002, they also successfully reached the roof of the world. Over the last 60 years, more than 10,000 men and women have tried to climb the mountain and more than 1,200 have succeeded. The first Chinese climbers reached the top of the mountain in 1960. Despite the dangers, many different people are drawn towards the challenge. But why do they suffer such hardship and take such risks to climb Qomolangma? “I dont think climbing the mountain is blindly risky. Instead, its a chance to challenge oneself,” said Chen Qi, a repo
