Through my constant efforts, I was eventually able to work it out. Now he has lived in my parents house for 11 years with many different caretakers and blossomed on his own. In fact, caring for someone who loves as deeply and appreciates my efforts as much as Jimmy does has enriched my life more than anything else ever could have.This hit home in the wake of the September 11th disaster, when I managed to hold a party for his 57th birthday. I called on my friends to make it a merry and festive occasion, ignoring the fact that the sheer terror had drained Americans of all happiness in those days. For Jimmy, however, the party was a welcome bonus, and mostly he had just wanted to see everyone else happy again. He made it in the end.
