Unit6 I like music that I can dance to.Good morning everyone! Today, its my great pleasure to be here sharing my lesson with you. The content of my lesson is Section A (1a-1c) of Unit6. Its selected from (Go for it) students Book in Grade 9.The subject of this unit is: I like music that I can dance to. Now Ill be ready to begin this lesson from five parts.Part 1: Teaching materialThis class is the first period of Unit6, which is about music and the attributive clauses with who and that. By studying of this unit, well enable the students to express their preferences about music and use attributive clauses. This lesson plays an important part in the English teaching in this unit. Its necessary and important for students to master this kind of clause throughout Grade 9.Teaching Objects(1) Knowledge Objectsa. Key vocabulary: prefer, lyricb. Target languages: What kind of music do you like? I like music that I can sing along with. What about you? I prefer music that has great lyrics.(2) Ability ObjectsTo train the students to express preferences.To train the students listening and speaking skills.(3) Moral ObjectLet the students enjoy different music and be interested in English.Teaching important pointsLearn the key vocabulary and target languages in this lesson.How to use “prefer”Use “that” and “who” to make attributive clauses.Teaching difficult pointsListening practice.Use “that” and “who” to make attributive clauses.Part 2Teaching MethodsIn my opinion, the main instructional aims of learning English in the Middle School is to develop the students abilities of listening, speaking, reading, writing and their good sense of the English language. So in this lesson Ill mainly use “Communicative” Approach, “Situational language teaching” and “Task-based” language teaching. That is to say, Ill let the students get a better understanding of the key structure of attributive clauses. At the same time, Ill make use of the modern electricity teaching equipments and all kinds of teaching means; it can develop the students creativity in learning English.Part 3Learning MethodsStudents start this lesson by listening to a beautiful song and revising what they have learnt, so its easy for them to accept new topic. They must take an active part in the class activities and speak in English to finish the tasks by using the target languages.Part 4Teaching proceduresStep 1 Greet and Lead-in (3)First of all, greet the class as usual.Then play a beautiful song (Shining Friends) that is about friendship to them. Put the lyrics on the computer screen and ask them: What do you think the song is about? It must be about friendship.What kind of music do you like?I like great music.I like light music.(The purpose is to revise the target language in unit5 and raise their interest. At the same time lead to the topic of this lesson.)Step 2 Presentation (8)a, 1, Show a picture that is about dancing and ask: Is the dancer dancing without music? No, she isnt. She is dancing to the music.2, Show a picture that is about singing and ask: Is the singer singing without music? No, he isnt. He is singing along with the music.3. Show different pictures about music and lead to the key vocabulary by talking about them.b. Do activity 1a. 1, Read and repeat the attributive clauses in the pictures. 2, Finish 1a.(The purpose is to learn the key vocabulary and be familiar with the structure of attributive clauses with that.)Step 3 Pair work (8) Use the key vocabulary and attributive clauses to discuss the pictures with partners. Talk about the music which you like or prefer. Then talk about other things in the pictures on the computer screen. In this part, students have to use a short sentence with attribute and a long sentence with the attributive clause to describe the things in the pictures. For example:I like great music. I like the music that is great.I love light music. I love music that is light.I prefer cute cats. I prefer cats that are cute.(The purpose is to practice the key vocabulary and revise attribute and be familiar with the attributive clauses.)Step 4 Listening practice (8) 1, Students listen to the tape recorder and finish 1b on their own. 2, Check the answers by asking: What kind of music does Tony/Betty like? (First, teacher asks, students answer; then let students ask and students answer.) 3, Play the tape again, students read after it.(The purpose is to improve students comprehensive skills.)Step 5 Group work (8)1, Ask two students to read the sample conversation to the class.2, Then work in groups. Look at the different kinds of pictures on the computer screen and make conversations with a partner, then one of them makes a report to the class.For example:A: What kind of music do you like?B: I like the music that I can dance to. What about you?A: I prefer music that has great lyrics.(Report: A prefers music that has great lyrics.
