Career Management1. Introduction1.1 DefinitionCareer is the sequence of work related positions a person occupies through life. A career consists, objectively, of a series of status and clearly defined offices. Subjectively, a career is the moving perspective in which the person sees his/her life as a whole and interprets the meaning of his various attributes, and things which happen to him. (Hughes, 1937)Career is like as gradual mountain climb, setting a goal, through a series of steps to achieve it by abilities and attributes. A philosopher has said: “Walking well each step, which is your life.” According to own actual situation, career management is to design and to realize individual reasonable career plan. This plan divides to several steps. We are using each achievement of step as foundation, to achieve higher goal. The chosen career must incorporate the ideal with the reality. Analyzing own interest, weaknesses and strengths, and then find opportunities to us. Through it, own value obtain better manifesting.Career Management as a process for enabling individual to better understand and develop their career skills and interests, and to use skills and interests more effectively both within the company and after they leave the firm.(1)_Source: H. My Career AspirationsTo be an Entrepreneur, starting my own business, I prefer to do oversea businesses. Manufacturing products in domestic and organizing distribution oversea are my job. 3. Why choose this career3.1 InterestThe individual choose their career match their interest.I had dream when I was a child, to be the most successful entrepreneur in the world. To be it, I can earn a lot of money. I can buy everything I want, I can make my family happy and I can help the poor. By the way, entrepreneur usually can control the life in the hand. I like that. Under this goal, I am unceasing endeavor. If I am in trouble, it will give me power. So I choose to study Marketing. I am interesting in do business owned by myself.Recently, I did the Campbell interest and skill survey (The CISS interest scale reflect an individual attraction for specific areas and helps individual gain a clearer understanding of suitable career options). I found out that I am interesting in influencing, organizing and analyzing. Actually, these attributes are the entrepreneurial needs. Therefore, I can encouraged myself to develop my skills in influencing, organ zing and analyzing. Be an entrepreneur is from my interest. (Refer to Appendix)3.2 PersonalityCareer will be inter-related with the personal orientation and personal needs of the individuals.I live in a happy family. We arent very rich. But my parents usually satisfy my desire. Thus, I hope my future can live better. I like traveling. I have a dream I will leave my track in the each corner of the world. So I expect I will have many free time and money. In a short goal, I hope I can buy a big house which locates in Beijing, the capital of China. I like to stay in metropolis. There have the advanced medical care, the most perfect market, and the best education. Those are the reason I choose entrepreneur as my career. I like take rising. Taking rising is my personality. I feel if the life is normal, my life will be unsuccessful. Nobody remember you, even though they live around you. To be entrepreneur, I will have many chances to take risk. I can grow up from challenges. I can be outstanding.By the way, I took the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), which assists a person in identifying their personality preferences. I am under Extraverted Think with Sensing (ESTJ). In this category, people are more interested in seeing realities and can think logically, critically and systematically. They force on the job. It also talked that this kind of people have natural bent for business, industry, production, and construction. They enjoy administration, where they can set goals, make decisions, and give the necessary orders. But they seldom pay attention to other peoples merits and ideas. That will be risk. (Refer to Appendix)3.3 Social BackgroundSocial-economic status, educational and occupation level of a persons parents will lead to the development of interest for particular careers.Everyone born and bring his/her social background at the same time. Usually, it can decide his/her life. I have better conditions than same people. My parents have ability to send me to study abroad. I can speak one more language in China. I will have oversea degree. I am learning the advanced western manageable knowledge. There are my advantages comparing have degree in China. It tells me I will get a better future. My mother is entrepreneur. She manages the biggest factory of transformer in Hainan Province, China. She influences my life by her experience. She taught me the ideas for how to be a successful entrepreneur. Actually, I grow up under my mother shadow. This may be the major reason that I choose become entrepreneur. If I start a business in future, I sure she will invest my business. My mother has a strong network. Guangxi( one kind of relationship) is important in China. Having a strong network, I will have a higher level to start my occupation. 4. The Skills Required As an Entrepreneur4.1What is an entrepreneur?An entrepreneur is a person who organizes and manages a business undertaking and assumes a risk for the sake of profit. Operating a business takes certain skills (2). The skills required as entrepreneur:4.1.1 ManagingTo be an entrepreneur, they need to manage whole company as a machine. Making sure each part runs effect and efficiently, that can generate powerful battle efficiency.4.1.2 MarketingMarketing begins with understanding potential customers need and opportunity for a product or service, the strengths and weaknesses of the firm and its competitors, determination of the appropriate product mix, analysis of financial viability, and the selection of appropriate supporting activities such as pricing, advertising and distribution.Entrepreneur need to know how to using the right way to sell product at the right market and at the right time.4.1.3 AnalyzingThis world is filled with opportunities. Entrepreneurs need the analyzing skills to search the opportunity under uncertain environment. Which one can suit the company development? Which one can make most profit? Career PlanningCareer Planning is the deliberate process through which someone become aware of personal skills, interests, knowledge, motivations, and other characteristic; acquire information about opportunities and choices, identifies career-related goals and establishes action plans to attain specific goals. (3)5.1 Career DevelopmentDonald Super has generated a life span vocational choice theory that has five life and career development stages:1. Growth Stage2. Exploration Stage.3. Establishment Stage4. Maintenance Stage5. Decline StageSuper recognized that the self-concept changes and develops throughout peoples lives as a result of experience. Now I am in the Exploration stage. I will graduate. I need to learn from bottom. It is different between the world of work and role of employee and you in college. I have to collect experiences. That can survive me in the drastic business wars in the future. So I will join in a company after graduate. At the same, I will research market and search opportunities.
