The Most Beloved and The Most Hated President of The United States 1. Introduction:He was the only one who won the Presidential election four times in the history of the United States . He was one of the three greatest American presidents with Washington and Lincoln .He played a important role in the Great Depression and the World War | .He was Franklin Delano Roosevelt who was a great man in the United States.2. The period before entering the government:The young Roosevelt had a good education because of the background of his family. When he graduated from Roedean public school, he wanted to join the naval academy and wanted to be a naval officer. But his father opposed his idea , so he entered the Harvard University in the end. After he got married , he decided to enter the government. This is the start of his dream and achievements.3. The first step in politics:In 1910, Roosevelt took his first step in politics with Democrats identity. In 1913, President Wilson appointed him as assistant secretary of the navy. In the period when he was assistant secretary of the navy, he took many measures to make the navy stronger. He was smart and enormously popular, it seems that nothing can stop the 39-year-old man to step on the steps of the summit politics. 4. The challenges in life and politic:In 1920, Roosevelt failed in campaigning vice President. After that , he became the deputy chairman of the Maryland Credit and Savings Company .In August 1921 ,he suffered from a spinal cord grey matter inflammation . The presidential term:5.1 The first presidential term:In 1932, the presidential campaign was held in the background of serious economic crisis . In November 1932, as the democratic presidential candidate in the race, Roosevelt put forward the implementation of New Deal and to develop the economy of the program. This was the first time that he took apart in the presidential campaign, and he told people through his spokesman:“A governor is not necessarily an acrobat. We elected him not because he can do a forward roll or roll. He did it is mental, is to find ways for the benefit of the people.”(Roosevelt,2012) Relying on such perseverance and optimistic , Roosevelt became the 32th president of the United States. In early 1933, the Great Depression storm swept across the United States, there were full of unemployment, bankruptcy, collapse, slump and everyone suffered from pain, fear and despair . Roosevelt acted an overwhelming confidence, when he sworn in, he made a passionate speech to tell people: “the only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”(Roosevelt,2012) The new Presidents determination and optimistic attitude made everyone see the hope. In order to get over the problems , Roosevelt took measures to actively promote internal relief, reform and Renaissance as the main contents of the Franklin Roosevelts New Deal and he succeed.5.2 The second presidential term:In 1937, Roosevelt pointed out that when some infectious disease began to spread , in order to protect the health of the residents and prevent disease , we needed social permission and make the patients in isolation .“War will spread. War could be swept away from the original battlefield nation and people. We are determined to make ourselves out of war, however, we cannot guarantee us get away from the war of the influence and avoid involved in the war.”(Roosevelt,2012) Roosevelt had realized that the war was not far away from the United States, so he said these. And he tried his best to take measures to avoid it.5.3 The third and the fourth presidential term:Roosevelts third term was dominated by World War II. Roosevelt slowly began re-armament in 1938, although he was facing strong isolationist sentiment from leaders like Senators William Borah and Robert Taft. By 1940, re-armament was in high gear, with bipartisan support, partly to expand and re-equip the Army and Navy and partly to become the Arsenal of Democracy supporting Britain, France, China and (after June 1941), the Soviet Union. As Roosevelt took a firmer stance against the Axis Powers, American isolationists vehemently attacked the President as an irresponsible warmonger.Roosevelt initiated FBI and Internal Revenue Service investigations of his loudest critics, though no legal actions resulted. Unfazed by these criticisms and confident in the wisdom of his foreign policy initiatives, FDR continued his twin policies of preparedness and aid to the Allied coalition. On December 29, 1940, he delivered his Arsenal of Democracy fireside chat, in which he made the case for involvement in the war directly to the American people. In December 7, 1941, the Japanese attacked on Pearl Harbor, the Pacific war broke out. Germany and Italy declared war on the United States. The United States declared war on Japan and German, it meant that the US entered the second world war. Finally, with the help of America the World War | ended. Because of Roosevelt ,many people got out of the war. He is a great man.6. Conclusion:Franklin Roosevelt and the New Deal helped America muddle through the dark times strong enough to tackle the even greater task that lay ahead.(An Evaluation of the New Deal,2012)As a leader, his skills were unparalleled. Desperate times called for desperate measures, and FDR responded with a bold program of experimentation that arguably saved the capitalist system and perhaps the American democracy. As sweeping as his objectives were, they still fundamentally preserved the free-market economy. There was no nationalization of industry, and the social safety net created by Social Security paled by European standards.Roosevelt dominated the American political scene, not only during the twelve years of his presidency, but for decades afterward. He orchestrated the realignment of voters that created the Fifth Party System.FDRs New Deal united labor unions, big city machines, white ethnics, African Americans and rural white Southerners.Roosevelts diplomatic impact also resonated on the world stage long after his death, with the United Nations and Bretton Woodsas examples of his administrations wide-ranging im
