Three of the new exocomets were reported in theOct. 2012 issue of the journal Publications of the Astronomical Society of thePacific by Welsh and colleague Sharon L. In 2009,astronomers found a large planet around -Pic about 10 times larger thanJupiter. But Welsh said that once comets areknocked out of their parking orbit in the outer reaches of a stellar system andfall toward a star, they heat up and evaporate.
