Unit2 Ill help to clean up the city parks.Writing (SecB3a-3b)Teaching aims: 1. The students can use some phrasal verbs such as “would like to, volunteer as, be good at”know some kinds of volunteer work2. The students will be able to: talk about volunteer work in groupwrite about volunteer work3. The students will be able to cooperate with each other and be willing to help others. Teaching key points: Help the students to know some kinds of volunteer work, talk about it and write a letter or e-mail to the place they want to volunteer at.Teaching difficult points: Lead Ss to write a letter to the place they want to volunteer at.Teaching method: Communicative and Cooperative methods.Teaching aids: Multi-media, the white-board.Teaching ProceduresStep1. What do Volunteers often do to help others?Show a picture.T: Look, what are these volunteers doing?S1: They are working in an old peoples home.T: What would you like to do if you work in an old peoples home as a volunteer?S2: Id like to chat with old people.S3: I want to read newspapers to them.Then show other pictures, present volunteer work “help kids in an after-school program” “work in a library” and what they would like to do in the same way.设计说明:以图片和对话形式呈现出课本3a中出现的一些志愿者工作,以及学生们具体的工作计划,使学生们了解怎么去描述志愿者工作,为下一步头脑风暴小组讨论做好铺垫。Step3. BrainstormingShow a chart. Hand out white-board to each group.Other kinds of volunteer workWhat would you like to do?T: Well, now weve known several kinds of volunteer work. Can you add more volunteer work? And tell us what would you like to do in details. You can discuss in your group and then write down your ideas on the white board.Ask some groups to show the results of their discussion.T:Well, all of you did a good job. Actually, you can see volunteers everywhere. Look at these pictures. What are these volunteers doing?T: Actually, we need volunteers everywhere.设计说明:以头脑风暴的形式小组讨论,能使学生在有限的时间内更快地想出不同种类的志愿者工作,以及具体的做法,为接下来的写作做好内容上的铺垫。Step4. InterviewT: Now we need many volunteers. Theres a “Volunteer Wanted” interview. (Take out the ad cards.) Look, I want some volunteers. Would you like to be volunteers? Come here and have an interview. I have some questions to ask you. (Present the questions on the screen.)Invite one student to have the interview.T: Hi, Which volunteer job do you want to do?S: Id like to volunteer at T: By the way, what are your interests and hobbies?S: Im good atT: Can these hobbies help you to do the jobs?S: Of course. In my free time, I like to so I think Id be good at this job.T: Why do you want to do the volunteer job?S: BecauseT: When are you free to do the job?S: Im free to help on weekends.T: OK, thank you for your kindness. Wow, now I know a lot about your ideas about volunteers. Well, does everyone know how to ask and answer in this interview? Ok. In your group, theres an interview too. 2 students will be interviewers. And the other students in your group want to be volunteers. Here is a paper. Interviewers, you can take some notes when the volunteers answer your questions.设计说明:采访活动,主要是将课本3b中的一些指导学生写作的问题和提示词呈现出来,让学生在写作之前再有一个口头的输出。在学生活动前教师先进行对话示范,使学生知道该如何做。在采访过程中,要求采访者作适当记录,也是为写作做好铺垫。Step5. WritingT: Now you have your own ideas about volunteer work. Please write a letter to the place you want to volunteer at. The letter should include all the information you have talked about. You can write it down on your paper. (Walk around the classroom, check their writing and offer help if necessary.)After finishing the letter, ask several students to share their articles with classmates. Other students read their articles. And correct some mistakes if theres any.设计说明:前面几个环节已经就文章的内容和框架进行了铺垫,学生能较顺利地完成写作。让几个学生展示一下作文,教师进行展示性点评。可以让学生指出一些写作中的小错误。Step6.
