Unit 10If you go to the party,youll have a grate time!Section B 2a-2d By RanTu Part 1 Analysis of teaching materialFirstly, you should be clear that this is a reading lesson, and there are 7parts involved, as is shown on the screen. Now lets make a quick move to part1 teaching material, which will be illustrated in 3aspects. The first aspect is about the content. As What is mentioned above, this is a reading lesson. The reading passage is about a girl called Laura, who lost her wallet, is taken as an example to illustrate the proper ways of solving worries. Those problems are normal in students daily life, so that they may have a lot to share and it will be helpful to understand the passage. Besides, during the class, the teacher should provide proper suggestions and instructions to help students to form right attitudes to those problems. The second aspect is about teaching goals. As for knowledge and capacity, after the class, students should be able to understand the whole passage and find required information to finish reading tasks. During the reading, reading strategies like skimming and scanning are introduced to develop students reading ability. As for attitudes and values, after the lesson, students should learn to handle worries in life properly and understand the importance of communication. The last aspect, as for key and difficult points, students should understand the passage and learn to use reading strategies to do reading tasks. Besides, some new words are also important and students should master. Like, normal, solve, trust, experience. Difficult points are concerned about sentences like,1)Unless we talk to someone, well certainly feel worse.2)He thinks the first step is to find someone you trust to talk about it. 3)In English we say sharing a problem is lie cutting it in a half. So you are halfway to solving a problem just by talking to someone. 4) Some people believe the worst thing is to do nothing. 5)It is best not to run away from our problems.Part2 Analysis of studentsAfter over one-year study, students have learnt many words and sentence patterns, which can provide them language materials to express themselves. For example, students have learnt “will” used to talk about the future Unit7 and in Section A of this unit, students have learnt to used to discus making choice and consequences. In addition, students of Grade 8 have show obvious difference in learning ability and language basics, so activity design should be done accordingly. And the requirement for students should also be various. The teacher should encourage and help the lower students. Part3 teaching and learning methodsDirect method, co-operative method, and Task-based method will be widely used in class. Direct method is mainly used in explanation key words and sentences after careful reading of each paragraph in part5. Co-operative can be seen in part 5 step6, in which students are required to finish the exercise and check answers within a group and then share their answers in the whole class. As for Task-based method, it is used in the activity careful reading of each paragraph, in which students should finish reading tasks as they are required.Part4 Teaching PreparationMulti-media system, vivid pictures videos and paper sheet are used to help the class more interesting and effective.Part5 Teaching procedures1. First of all, you can see on the screen that the class is divided into 3 parts, pre-reading, while-reading and post-reading, which include 8 small steps. Warming-up and lead-in consist of pre-reading. In the warming-up 3 short videos form I love my family will be presented, in which the tree children have met some problems and students are asked to give advice to them. After that the girl, Laura in the passage can be naturally introduced and students are asked to discus what she should do, after she lost the wallet. The main purposes of the two steps are to arouse interest, to review how to give advice and to bring out the topic.Then the class will move on to the main part while-reading, which includes 4 steps. You can see on the screen. Step3 & 4 are mainly about skimming and scanning for specific information like main ideas, peoples opinions about problem solving. And step 3 is quite easy, because the purpose is to build students confidence and help to prepare for the following study. Besides, the two steps can help to develop students ability of grabbing main ideas by shimming for key words and sentences. However, as for step5 careful reading, different reading task is designed for each paragraph so that students can not be bored soon. During this step, students are required to search for detail information through scanning. And at the end of careful reading each paragraph, difficult words and sentences are presented in order that students can learn them in the real situation and prepare themselves for the exercise and writing work. After the tiring reading tasks, a brief conclusion is designed in step 5. In the step, a view of solving problems is introduced and short part of an English song called Trouble is a friend will be played and the main purpose is to help Students form proper attitudes towards problems in daily life and make them relaxed a little after the tiring reading. Step6 is what have been mentioned a little that students finish the paperwork in groups so that they may discuss and help each other. This step is designed to break through the difficult points. Then the class go to the summary and exercise of 2d. The teacher lead students to make a summary according to the blackboard. By summarizing, students can get a clear clue of what they have learnt. As for the exercise 2d, it can consolidate students impression and provide the teacher a chance to check the result of the class. The last step i
