Because of the prudence of the pilgrim, the creative form which Hawthorne adopted is the romantic novel. Only in this way ,the author can create a story without the reality of the details. The words of Hawthorne is mild but can exposure the dark ,the evil to reveal the truth of irony. A prominent feature of Hawthornes works is describing the dark side of human nature and society . There is rich imagine and rigor structure in Hawthornes works . In addition to psychological analysis and description , he also used symbolism .2) Introduce of StorySimple and kind young Brown with curious mood went to a date which a wizard held in forest . He bid farewell to the newlywed wife Faith, and set foot on the road to the Schwarzwald. He believed that he could resist all temptations in the future after this indulgence . As he walked into the jungle deeper and deeper , his faith grew weaker and weaker . Along the way, he discovered that some residents were hurried to the devils party who had high moral and firm belief . When he took the falling “Pink Ribbon” from the sky which belongs to his wife , his faith has shaken completely , because his wife was a faithful person who he had believed . In Hawthornes novels, the red often symbolizes sin and the white symbolizes purity. So pink means that people is neither total depravity nor innocence. The pink belt is the clue of the Browns faith and witnesses the process of Browns faith from the firm to the complete disappearance. Stick in Snake Shape It is a symbol of devil and leads people to sin.4) Theme of Novel The ending is a dream. And the answer to the question whether the dream is real or not is not clear.
