By the end of the lesson the students will have got lots of information about the world expo and have practised much lexis related to the Shanghai Expo.2. Students will have reviewed several sentence patterns to introduce the weather, transportations, food, places and festivals in Shanghai. Subsidiary Aim(s) For students to (review, use, develop, practise)3. To have abilities to understand the meanings of the emblem, the mascot and the volunteer logo and have a communication or interaction with their classmates.4. To develop the sts reading skill through several short passages and help them get much information about the world expo.Personal Aims Teaching skills YOU want to improve on in this lesson1. Provide a formulaic pattern or the substitution work to ensure the sts. are understandable, enjoyable, motivated and genuinely communicative although most of the lexis are not presented in the course-book. 2. Use visual aids, clear situations and good instructions to manage the activities (such as pairwork or group work ).3. Enlarge the sts vocabulary and spark them the interests about Shanghai Expo. Introduction about three Chinese characters: world, people, heartLead in: 2010 Shanghai World ExpoEngage the sts. to involve the warming-up stage to build a delighted learning atmosphere.Set a situation to present the topic of the lesson.B. Introduction about the emblem, mascot and volunteer logo.1. The emblem:a. Q & A: What do you see? What are they doing?b. The emblem means The big family of mankind.2. The mascot:a. Read a short passage about the mascot.b. Q & A:What do you think of Haibao?c. Introduce a cartoon named Haibao is coming. d. Watch the segments of the cartoon.e. Read a passage and get to know the plots of the cartoon.3. The volunteer logo:a. Q & A:What does it look like?b. Tell sts. the meaning of the design.c.
