八年级下册英语 Unit 2 Ill help to clean up the city parks. Section B ( 2a-2c) 湖北省襄阳市襄州区峪山镇中学 胡西秀一、Analysis of Teaching Material. In this unit, students learn to express what kind of volunteer work they would like to do. And they will learn to choose a volunteers and volunteer work. And they will learn to choose a volunteer job based on their own skills. Students will understand to do some volunteer work is good for both themselves and the others. All the students will be interested in the volunteers and volunteer work. This period is very important in the unit. Students will learn how to thank someone who helps them and educate them to have grateful hearts. They will make great progress in English after learning this unit二、Teaching Objectives. 1、Knowledge and abilities.1). Master the key words:(1) N: letter , difficulty, door training, kindness, change, Miss (2) Adj: disabled, blind, deaf, excited, clever (3) Verb: imagine, open, carry, train, change2). Need to learn phrases: set up, make a difference 3). Master the sentences: Id like to thank you for giving money to Animal Helpers. Im sure you know that this group was set up to help disabled people like me. You helped to make it possible for me to have Lucky. Lucky makes a difference to my life. Im only able to have a “dog-helper” because your kindness2. Ability objectives.1). Learn to write a letter or e-mail to express our willingness to help others using the learned knowledge.2). Review and consolidate the main contents in this unit.3. Moral objectives. Try to come up with an idea when doing something to get much volunteer experience 三、Teaching key points.1. Master the new words and target language.2. Review the learned contents. 四、Teaching Difficulties How to help students have the passage on the phrasal verbs and target language of this period五、Teaching preparation The English textbook, cards on some students activities. 六、Teaching procedures Step 1: Lead-in Revise the phrasal verbs that taught last class by asking some students to make sentences with them. Step2. Presentation: I.Before reading &Teach Activity 2a. How do you usually thank someone who helps you? Discuss this with a partner.Call them and thank them. Do something for them in the future. Send a thanks card.Write a thank you letter to let them know how you feel.Free talk“Did you write a letter to thank someone who had helped you? What did you write about? Do you know the differences between a letter and an article?”1. A letter is for some person to read, while article is for a lot of people to read. 2. The beginning of a letter is different from that of an article. 3. A letter is for communication, while an article is for sharing.How many kinds of letters can you think of? Please tell us.How many kinds of letter do you know?Recommendation letter Thank-you letter Ordinary contacting letter Post card letterII. Fast Reading. Teach Activity 2b1. T: Now lets work on 2b. First, lets read the questions and make sure we know the meanings of all the questions. Then read the passage quickly and find the answers to the questions. 1) What kind of letter is it?2) Who wrote the letter to Miss Li? Why?3) What did Miss Li do?2. Ss read the letter quickly and try to find the answers to the three questions. 3. Check the answers with the class. III. Careful Reading Paragraph 1: T: Now lets read these sentences about the letter. Read the passage again. Judge if the sentences are true or False. Please underline under the main sentences. 1). What is “Animal Helpers”?It is a group was set up to help disabled people. 2). What has lucky brought the writer?It makes a big difference to his life.Paragraph 2: 1. Can you give me some examples of normal things according to the passage? answering the telephone ,opening and shutting the doors , carrying things2. Are normal things easy for the writer? Why? No, because the writer cant use his arms or legs well.Paragraph 3, A specially trained dog1. How long had he been trained? For six months. 2. What has he been trained to do? He has been trained to understand different instructions and English wordsParagraph 4: 1. The writer showed his thanks to Miss Li.Q: What did the writer say to thank her?A: Ill send you a photo of him if you like, and I could show you how he helps me. Thank you again for changing my life.2. Ss read the letter again and judge the sentences.1) The writer cant use her arms or legs well. 2) Lucky was brought to the writer by her friend. 3) They have been trained at “Animal helpers” for seven months. 4) A dog-helper is for those who are disabled. 5) Lucky can understand different orders. Step3 PresentationTeach Activity 2c .Look at the list of words below. Circle the part of speech of each word and make your own sentences with these words.1. group . Step6. Summary In this class, weve learned to make reading notes. Weve also practiced using some words and writing an article based on the notes given.
