Why arent campfires allowed except at Mather and Desert View campgrounds? 67. How is the weather at Gramd Canyon? 68. How many guidelines are there in this passage? 69. What is the main purpose of the passage?B Have you ever stayed in a hotel? We often stay in a hotel while we are travelling outside. Most Chinese hotels often provide guests with things like disposable(一次性的) toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo and slippers. Many guests like the idea because they dont have to bring their own. But ,if you travel to Beijing, remember to bring your own things. They want to ask people to use less disposable things. Many disposable things are made of plastic. People throw them away after only using them once. It is a waste of natural resources(资源) and is very bad for the environment. Do you know, one Chinese makes as much as 400kg of waste a year! Most of the waste comes from disposable things. In Beijing, people throw away about 19,000 tons of plastic bags and 1,320 tons of plastic lunch bowls every year! Plastic can take between 100 and 400 years to break down. So the less plastic we throw out, the better. So, wherever you travel ,bring your own things and use them again and again.Back at home and school, you can also do something to make our world a better place. Try to do these things in your daily life: Use cloth shopping bags, not plastic ones. After using a plastic bag, wash it out and let it dry. Then you can use it over and over again. Do not use paper cups. At your school dinning room, use your own bowl and chopsticks instead of disposable ones.To protect our environment and our home, it is very necessary and important for us to save natural resources. 65.Do you often stay in a hotel or at home while traveling? 66.What are many disposable things made of? 67.Why cant we throw away plastic things after using them only once ? 68.What does the writer suggest us to use at home and at school 69.What does the passage mainly talk about?C Happiness is U-shaped, for we are happier at the start and end of our lives but hit a slump(低潮) when we are middle-aged, scientists from England and America say. They have studied the information on the mental (心理的) health of two million people from 80 countries. In England, the probability of low spirits for men and women reaches the highest point at around 44 years of age. In America, though, there is a big difference between men and women. Among women, unhappiness reaches the highest point at around the age of 40, but among men, it is about 50. But the U-shape of happiness is unchanging around the world, and the mid-life sadness happens regardless of marital status (婚姻状况), changes in job or pay. It happens to men and women, to single and married people, to rich and poor, and to those with and without children. One possibility may be that people realize many of their dreams wont come true at middle age. The researchers said another reason could be that seeing their middle-aged friends die one by one, people begin to value their own remaining years and their love of the nature and long for peaceful and free life once more. But the good news is that if people make it to aged 70 and are still physically fit, they are on average (平均) as happy as a 20-year-old person. For the average people in the modern world, the fall in mental health and happiness doesnt come on suddenly in a single year. Only in their fifties do people get out of this low period. 65. Do people feel happy at the start and end of their lives 66. Where are the scientists in the passage from? 67. When does the unhappiness reach the highest point among men in America, at the age of 40 or about 50? 68. What is the good news for a 70-year-old healthy man? 69. How will a teenager feel in his future life according to the passage?DIn every country, there are thousands of people who want to help others out. Many join organizations run (管理) by their governments, such as the Peace Crops in the United States and Voluntary Service Overseas in Britain. Since the powerful earthquake took place in Sichuan, more than 200 thousand volunteers across China have helped there! They do all kinds of work or come up with ways to help improve life. Some offer their professional skills for free. Others have no qualifications (资历), but they love to work hard to help. One of the most famous volunteers in the world was Mother Teresa. She could be the best volunteer because she gave her life to help the poorest people of Calcutta. She helped the homeless, cared for the sick, gave out food, and became mother of those without families. Now more and more teenagers actively look for volunteering opportunities, too. They volunteer because they think it will be fun or they will learn something. They also like the idea of being helpful to others, even if it is just handing out books for the teacher. As they get older, these reasons are still the same, but there are other important reasons for volunteering such as learning on-the-job, getting work experience, and improving their social life. All volunteers bring joy to the people they help in so many ways. They might read books to the blind, fix up broken homes, find ways to get water for villages. Could you be a volunteer? What kind of volunteer work could you do? There is someone in the world who needs you. 65. How many volunteers came to China after earthquake happened in Sichuan? 66. Do some volunteers who offer their professional skills in Sichuan get money? 67. Who did Mother Teresa give her life to? 68. Why do more and more teenagers take part in volunteer work? 69. What does the passage mainly talk about?E Do you want to know more cultures about other countries? Here are some messages you may be interested in. Taking off your shoes or not Its bad manners to take off your shoes at the door of a London dinner party. But in Asia if you dont take off your shoes before entering a home, you are not polite enough. What you should do instead: If you see a row of shoes at the door, take off your shoes. If not, keep the shoes on. Talking over dinner In some countries, like Japan, dont start talking while everyone else is having dinner. Youll meet with silence not because your group is unfriendly, but because mealtime is for eating, not talking. Also dont talk in places like churches in Europe. What you should do instead: Keep quiet! Knowing your right from your left Some cultures in Africa and the Middle East still like to eat in traditional ways using their hands. When people eat i
