The teacher shows some pictures of animals and reviews comparative and superlative degree of adjectives with the sentences patterns “Which?” “Why?” and “Because”2. The teacher asks students “Do you know which wild animals are in danger?” Shows some pictures of animals and leads to Section D-part1.3. Ask students to master the phrase “in danger”, then make sentences and understand the new words “wild”, “bear”, “wolf”.Step: Presentation.1. Show the pictures in part1 and ask students to discuss the questions in 1. Then make dialogs between the teachers and students. Ask students to master the new words “bamboo”, “whale”, “kill” and “south”. T: Do you know where pandas live?S: Yes. They live in the forests and mountains of Southwest China.T: What do they eat?S: Bamboo. They feed on bamboo. T: Whats the largest animal in the world?S: The elephant?T: No. Its the blue whale. They are the largest and heaviest animals in the world. T: Whats it?S: A Chinese tiger.T: What do you know about Chinese tigers?S: They live in the south of China. And they feed on small animals. T: Yes, but some people kill them for their fur and bones. They are in danger now.2. Listen to 1 and answer the following questions: Why is the number of pandas getting smaller and smaller? What are the serious problems to the blue whales? And why? Can you tell us why Chinese tigers are in danger?Lead students to answer: Because now they have less and less land to live on. Now the blue whales are in danger because some humans kill them and the ocean water is becoming dirtier. Because they kill them for their fur and bones.Step: Consolidation.1. Let students read 1 and finish 1.2. Write down the key sentences, and then let students retell the article.3. Ask some students to retell it and help them to finish it.4. Talk about the animals in danger and how to protect them.Step: Practice.1. Let students find out the sentences with comparative and superlative degree in 1. According to these sentences, lead students to sum up the usage of comparative and superlative degree of adjectives. Then finish 3a.2. Sum up the useful expressions of this topic with students. Read 3b and finish 3b.3. Show the original forms of the adjectives in 2. Let students write down their comparative and superlative degree of adjectives.4.
