First, let the students see a short video about rainstorm. After they see it, the teacher can ask: What did you see in this video? This step can efficiently attract students attention by using a video as the beginning of a class.Step 2 Introduction and expansion of new words Just now, we saw rainstorm. Now lets see the structure of the word. It is made of two words. One is “rain”, and the other is “storm”. So, can you guess the meaning of “snowstorm” and “sandstorm”. This step, on the one hand, can help students have a good understanding of how to make an English word. On the other hand, it can also help the students grasp one way of guessing the meaning of new words.Step 3 Show the teaching goals. This step can help students have a clear guidance of this class. Besides, the students can also find the important teaching points as soon as possible.Step4 Presentation.Show some pictures to the students and guide them to speak out “Where were they?” and “What were they doing?”. This step can help students learn the structure of “was/were + doing” with the guidance of these pictures.Step 5 Group work. OK. Now lets see the sentences we just spoke out.
