Learn to listen to the key words. 3. Learn to make the description. 4. Lead the students to cultivate the good personal traits II. The important and difficult points : 1. the important points : the target language A + be +形容词比较级 + than + B 2. the difficult points: the comparatives with er/ ier and moreIII. Teaching methods:1. Apply different kinds of teaching methods1) task-based teaching approach 2) The cognitive approach3) The oral approach 4) The natural approach2. Learning method guidance 1) Autonomous learning and cooperative investigation2) Let the students work in pairs to learn the cooperative learning3) Students learn to describe each other and respect others4) Ask students to learn by doing.3.The teaching means computer, projector, body language, listening, practice, photos,pattern-drills, question-answer drills. Teaching steps:Step 1. Revision1. Greetings. 2. Review the description words of appearance.3. 1a-Match the words with their opposites.Step 2. Presentation1. Show a picture of a famous star Wu Yifan and lead the students to say the word “tall”, then show another picture of Yao Ming and lead the students to say the word “taller”. Teach the students to read the two words while writing them on the whiteboard.In this way, the teacher teaches the other comparatives: short-shorter, long-longer, heavy-heavier, thin-thinner, loudly- more loudly,quietly-quietly, good/well-better.2. Let the students look at these words carefully and try to summarize the rules about how to change these words into comparative forms.Step3. Practice1. Chant- Show the comparative forms on the screen and ask the students to chant.2. Game- Students stand up as quickly as they can and say thecomparative forms of the words they see. Compare which group willwin the competition.Step4. Presentation Present the target language by comparing two people in the pictures. Eg: Yao Ming is taller than Liu Xiang. Liu Xiang is shorter than Yao Ming.Present more sentence structures in this way.Step5. Listening1. Ask students to listen to the conversations and number the twins.2. Check the answers.3. Play the tape again. Ask the students to listen and repeat. Underline the comparative degrees while listening.Step 6. Practice1. Pairwork-“My friend and I”. Show a picture of my friend and myself. Use the target language to compare us. Next students stand up face to face and compare themselves with their partners within the given time (2 minutes). Then the teacher invites one pair of students to come to the front of the classroom and give a report. 2. Game-“Who is my good friend?” One student compares himself/ herself with his/ her good friend, the other students guess who his/ her good friend is according to the description. Step7. Sing a song Having good friends is a happy thing. The more we get together, the happier we will be. Step 8. Summary1. Invite students to summarize what they learned today.2. Using the flash pictures to share the comparative forms and help students cultivate the spirit of workin
