it can be self-destructive ( 毁坏性的). _ 16_ but like all emotions, anger has its purposes, which can be used for good effects. anger is a motivating force. in fact anger itself is a kind of positive energy and a powerful motivating force. _17 when we see something as beneficial, we want it more when we are angry. so, when used right, constructive anger can make us feel strong and powerful and help push us on to get what we want. 18 it may sound like a strange thing to say, but angry people have something in common with happy people. thats because both tend to expect favorable results. by comparison those experiencing more fear are more pessimistic (悲观的) about the future and expect further terrors. anger can benefit relationships. society tells us anger is dangerous and we should hide it .the problem is that when we hide our anger, our partner doesnt know hes done something wrong. and so he keeps doing it. 19 the expression of anger, if reasonable and aimed at finding a solution, can actually benefit and strengthen relationships. anger provides self-understanding. anger can also provide understanding into ourselves, if we allow it. getting angry leads to a positive outcome. anger help discover our own faults. if we can notice when we get angry and why, then we can learn what to do to improve our lives. 20 a. and that doesnt do our relationship any good.b. anger can turn us on and thus push on towards our goals in the face of problems and barriers.c. anger reduces violence.d. angry people are more optimistic.e. most of us treat our anger as though its unreasonable, more and swims a personal best or learns a new move on the basketball court. in 2006, two things happened that got me thinking about changein sports and in life.17 agassi was a terrific player who won 60 titles, including eight major championships. but his greatest accomplishment might have been how much he changed during his career.when he was young, agassi was a showoff who seemed to care only of the united states world cup team of 2006. 19 ben olsen has had five operations for severe ankle injuries. still, he had one of his best years in 2007. he scored seven goals including a “hat trick” three in one game. he was recognized for his outstanding play with an m.l.s. best eleven award. he accepted the award in a wheelchair after a minor operation. ben olsen retired after the 2009 season. others burst with anger, and scream and yell. but other people keep their anger inside. they can not or will not express it. this is called repressing anger.for years many doctors thought that repressing anger was more dangerous to a persons health than expressing it. they said that when a person is angry, the brain releases the same hormones (荷尔蒙). they speed the heart rate, raise blood pressure, or sugar into the blood, etc. _17_ some doctors say that both repressing and expressing anger can be dangerous. they believe that those who express anger violently may be more likely to
