Birthday PresentsTeaching goals: Learn the Present Past Tense. To use the tense to express simple sentences.Ability goals: enable the students to understand and talk about the past events by using the simple past tense.Emotion and attitude goals: Many things happened in the last .Now educate Ss to be active and study hard , help and learn from each other ,be friendly to each other. We will make our country more beautiful and strong.Strategy goals: To understand the simple past tense by using it.Teaching important points: learn to use the Simple Past TenseTeaching tools: A computer ,a recorder, some presents, a birthday cakeTeaching types: NewTeaching procedures and ways:Step1 Warming up Greet each other. Then show an English short movie about some animals birthdays. Next lead in “Today is my birthday.” And sing the birthday song together. At the same time show some birthday presents that friends gave in the morning.(use the past tense). Lead the new words.Show them on the screen. present / preznt / 礼物 bank / bnk / 储钱罐 look like 看上去像 duck / dk / 鸭子 with 具有 laugh / la:f / 笑 something funny 有趣的东西 ( 修饰something的词要后置) give each other sth. 相互送东西 Read them and then give three minutes and check them. (I say Chinese or English)Step 2 Play a guessing game Show four pieces of paper(write some actions on them),then choose four volunteers to choose one of them, then stand in front of the class and do the action on the paper.At the same time ask the other students to guess like this: “clean the room”. After guessing one,the teacher says, “What did the boy /girl do just now? He/She cleaned the room./ danced/did homework/read the book.” Then write them on the blackboard and write the verbs with red chalk. Explain:If something happened in the past ,we should use the simple past tense.Bb:一般过去时(The Simple Past Tense): 表示过去某个时间发生的动作或存在的状态。常常和表示过去的时间状语连用. 如:in2009, last(刚过去的)Sunday, yesterday(昨天), just now(刚才),three days ago等。Step 3 Lead in the main topicThe teacher introduces two new friends to the class. One is Marcia and the other is Maxwell. They are good friends . Dec.8th was Maxwells birthday, his friend Marcia gave him a pair of shoes with peanuts( 花生 )in the shoes. The present was funny. Dec.9th was Marcias birthday, so Maxwell wanted to give him a funny present. Now look at this. It was the present that looked like a duck. Next lets listen to the tape and complete the information card. (Give them 3minutes ,then check their answers.)Step 4 Scan(细读) the article, find out all the verbs in it. Give Ss three minutes to find out all the verbs, while reading, ask two of them to come to the front and write the verbs on the blackboard. After finding then out, show the screen .Ask them to make a summary (这些动词的过去式有什么变化规则,在黑板上写出) V.+ed Ve结尾+d V 不规则and make a competition between boys and girls.(remember all the verbs and say them out when a boy/a girl says a verb.)then the teacher says a verb, the students say its past form, who can say it first,who will be the winner. At last the teacher can also give them some presents.Step 5 Read the article carefully, complete the following questions:1.What do Marcia and Maxwell like to do on their birthdays ?2.Translate this sentence into Chinese.(给下面的句子译成汉语) In the box was a bank that looked like a duck.3.Did Marcia like the birthday present ? How do you know that?4. Its nice to give friends something on their birthdays. (将此句译成汉语)Ask the students to read the passage again and answer the questions. Then explain the structure “Its + 形容词 + to do sth. 做某事是的。”And give some examples.Eg. Its happy to get a present. Its polite to say “Hello” to the teachers every morning. Step 6 Check your memory! According to their memories , fill in the blanks. Make them grasp the past forms of some verbs strongly .Step 7 Fill in the blanks.1.December 5th (be) Sunday.2. I (give) her a bank on her last birthday.3.Yesterday(昨天)we (clean) the classroom.4.I bought (有趣的东西)for Kate on her birthday .5.Li Ping (have) a birthday party on November 9th.Step 8 Summary1.Weve learned how to use the simple past tense.2.Weve learned how to collect information from the article.3.
