T invites the monitor to stand in the front of the classroom, ask the other Ss to describe him/her.E.g.: - What is he/she like? -What is he/she like?- He/She is -He/She has2. Put the words about appearance together and the words about personality together. Ask the Ss to take some notes.Step 2 Presentation 1. Let Ss describe T, and then T talks about her appearance in the past by comparing to the height and hair. T shows the new phrase “used to”.2. Ask Ss to read the new sentences aloud and say out the Chinese meaning of “used to”3. T shows 2 famous stars pictures, and let Ss guess who they are. And then describe their changes.E.g. She used to have straight hair. She has curly hair now.She used to be quiet. She is outgoing now. She used to wear glasses. She doesnt wear glasses now.Step 3 DrillAsk and answer like this: T: What did you used to be like? S: I used to be/have I am/have now.(T provides some key words for Ss)Step 4 Listening1. T lets Ss find out the change of each child. Then listen to the MP3 for the first time; just write down the names for each child.2. Listen again and fill in the blanks. Check the answers. Let Ss read the whole sentences aloud.3. Talk about the changes of each child.Step 5 Practice1. Who is the best drawer?Ss draw a picture for Yao Ming in the past according to Ts words. Then find out the best drawer together.Step 6 Consolidation 1. Pair work: make a conversation with the partner like this:A: I havent seen you for years. Did you use to be/have ?B: Yes, I did. I am/have now. Did you use to be/have ?A: Yes, I did.
