Greetings.2. Show the language goal and explain it to the class .Ask students tosee one of my old photos and say , “I m heavy now,but I was thin in the past.” It means, “I used to be thin .”Show Zhang Zi yis old photo and new one .Describe her change in appearance with the structure used to . And then talk about Lu Hans personality .3. Activity 1a .Review old words by describing some famous peoples appearances or personalities.Let students fill in the blanks.Step Presentation1. Learn new words by picture choices .Then make a list of new words .The teacher lead students to pronounce them .2. First ,show a picture of Kate and get students to read thedescriptions .Then call students attention to the pictures and get them to describe the changes using the structure used to .3. Teach activities 1b and 1c .These two parts are designed to give students some listening and oralPractice .(1) Read the instructions together with the class ,and ask shudents tolook at the uncompleted sentences in the box .(2) Play the tape . Students listen carefully and fill in the blanks with the words they hear .(3) After that ,get students to make conversations according to some coubles of photos . Step Practice1. Teach activities 2a and 2b .These two parts are designed to provide students with listening and speaking practice using target language .(1) Ask students to look at the pictures and put forward a question:What are they doing ?Listen to the tape and you will hear a boy and a girl talking to each other at a party .Then check the words you hear .(2) Listen to the tape and fill in the blanks with the words they hear .(3) Check the answers .Step ConsolidationTeach activity 2d .Thisactivity aims to help students consolidate the target language through a conversation and teach them how to describe the change of someones appearance .First ,ask students to read the conversation silently to get the main idea .Then ask students listen to the conversation .After that ,ask students to practice role-playing the conversation in pairs .Step SummaryIn this period ,weve learned how to talk about ones appearance in the past and now .If there is spare time ,do the exercise on the screen .Step Homework1.
