They think hobbies can influence your schoolwork and you will not get good grades if you spend too much time on your hobbies. So sometimes you have to make a choice (choose to practice your hobby or spend time on your homework. While talking with students about their hobbies, present the new words and expressions: get in the way of, enter, support, choice.用R. Kelly为著名篮球明星Michael Jordan写的歌曲I Believe I Can Fly.导入话题hobbies,同时为最后的主题升华埋下伏笔(Achieve the balance of your hobbies and schoolwork. I believe you can fly!)而且Michael Jordan本人就是一个坚持篮球梦想获得成功的例子。在与学生聊hobbies这一话题时,呈现生词和短语:get in the way of, enter, support, choice,让学生在在自然的语境中明白它们的意思。StepWhile -reading1.Fast reading T: Here is a boy called Liu Yu. Please work in groups of six and exchange your ideas with your group members. Then tell me how many students in your group agree that Liu Yu should be allowed to make his own decisions and how many students disagree. Get some group leaders to give a report. They hope to get advice from the famous teenager expertMs. Huang. Please watch and listen. Try to find the answers to the questions:Should parents make important decisions for their teenage children? How can Liu Yu and his parents solve their problem?Ms. Huang: Thats a good question. Sometimes parents think that they know their children well and they are afraid that their children are too young to decide for themselves. However, only children themselves know what they want. They will not be happy if they are doing a job they are not interested in and they may not do well and will give it up sooner or later. It is a good job for them if they are good at it, love it and want it.Mr. .Liu: Thank you for your advice .Ive learnt a lot.Ms. Huang: So Liu Yu, why not communicate with your parents? They are the people who love you most in the world. Think twice before you make the final decision. And you could also decide how much time you should spend on your hobby and schoolwork with your parents. II hope you can achieve the balance of your hobby and schoolwork,Liu Yu: OK, I will. Thank you, Ms. Huang.Ask students to answer the two questions. T: Just like the kite, if you keep its balance, then it will fly high. If you achieve the balance of your hobbies and schoolwork, I believe your dream can fly high!
