The spirit of Christmas教学设计 三十里铺中心校 陈云The analysis of the teaching materialThis lesson is a reading passage from Go for it 9A unit 2. By studying of this lesson, Ill enable students to know something of Christmas, and develop the interest in English learning. At the same time, let the students learn how to give a personal reaction. From this lesson, let students learn how to use Objective clauses with that/if/whether. (As we all know, reading belongs to the input during the process of the language learning. The input has great effect on output, such as speaking and writing.) Therefore, this lesson is in the important position of this unit. If the Ss can master it well, it will be helpful for them to learn the rest of this unit.The analysis of studentsSs have learned English for some years. They understand some words and simple sentences. They are curious, active, and fond of game, various activities. They enjoy learning through cooperation in a relaxing atmosphere. Teaching Aims1.Knowledge objects(1)The Ss can learn some key words and useful expressions.(2)The Ss can use the Objective clauses and exclamatory statements.(3)The Ss can talk about Christmas and understand the true meaning of Christmas2.Ability objects(1) Ss can better understand the passage through various reading tasks. (2) Guide Ss to set up the effective studying strategy of inferring.3.Emotion or moral objects(1)By completing the task, the Ss increase their interest in English reading ,and set up self-confidence in English learning.(2)Teach the Ss to use their own ideas, put the moral education in the language study Important and difficult points:1.the important points:(1).to get an overall understanding of the whole text ,and develop their reading skills such as inferring ,skimming, scanning, summarizing language points(2).the usage of the Objective clauses.2.the Difficult points:(1).get the Ss to use the new words and phrases to express their ideas in daily life, and develop the ability of skimming and scanning. (2).master the usage of Objective clauses.Teaching Aids: a computer, blackboard Teaching methodsIn order to help Ss develop good sense of the English language, I will use the following methods :Communicative Approach,Whole Language Teaching,Task-based Language Teaching,Total Situational Action,Computer Aided Instruction and Inspiring Assessment.The procedures of the teachingStep1“Jingle bells ”, T prepare for the class and Ss enjoy the music.Step2. Free talk. Ask: What festival do you think this song is about? Show a picture of Christmas and asks: “What do you know about Christmas?” Ss talk with partner.(December 25th,Christmas tress, Santa Claus, gifts, stockings ,sing Christmas songs, make Christmas trees, family gathering, get a lot of presents)Purpose: activate the Ss to regard the topic of the spirit of Christmas and createStep 3 Ss listen to the tape of the passage and try to find the words and expressions on the screen. Then teach Ss the words and expressions. And play word game . Show the new words and expressions on the screen .Ss brainstorm and try to say out their pronunciations and Chinese meanings. Purpose: through guessing, to arouse Ss learning interest, and help them to learn the new words and phrases which they may come across while reading, pave the way for the next step.Step 4 Skim the first paragraph and answer the questions in 2b (1). What are the common things that people think of for Christmas? (2). Whats the true meaning of Christmas? Let Ss retell paragraph1 in 1minute.Step 5.Read para2,and finish the mind map.the writers name : The names of the two main characters:The relationship between the characters:Give Ss 2 minutes to retell paragraph2.Step 6. Read para3 carefully, and fill the chart below.Step 7.Read para4 carefully, and answer the question below according the key words. Q :How did Scrooge change?Step 8 First tell Ss a new reading stratedyinferring. Then answer the questions. Some answers need to be inferred.Purpose: Piecewise read the passage, to obtain relevant information, improve the students comprehensive reading ability.Step 9 Help Ss sum up the language points from the passage.Step10 Homework1, Watch the movie A Christmas Carol in your free time.2, Write a letter to your friend tell him or her about your favorite Chinese festival.Teaching reflection: During my
