It was Johns quick action and knowledge of first aid that saved Ms Slades life.本句采用了强调句型,强调了主语Johns quick action and knowledge of first aid 强调句的基本构成:It is/was + 被强调部分 + that/who + 原句剩余部分.(可用来强调句中除谓语动词外的成分,如:主语,宾语,状语)Eg. Mr Fang did the experiment in the lab yesterday.强调主语:It was Mr Fang that/who did the experiment in the lab yesterday.强调宾语:It was the experiment that Mr Fang did in the lab yesterday.强调状语:It was yesterday that Mr Fang did the experiment in the lab .强调句的几种变形:一般疑问式:Is/Was it + 被强调部分 + that/who + 原句剩余部分 ?强调特殊疑问词:特殊疑问词+ is/was +it +that +原句剩余部分 ?强调notuntil: It is/was + not until +that + 原句剩余部分.Eg: His words deeply hurt Jane yesterday.(用强调句型的一般疑问式) Was it his words that deeply hurt Jane yesterday ?Eg: When did you finish this task? (强调特殊疑问词) When was it that you finished this work Eg: I didnt trust him until you told me all the truth. (强调notuntil) It was not until you told me all the truth that I trusted him.Eg. You made such a mistake because you were very careless. (强调状语从句) It was because you were very careless that you made such a mistake.Compare:1. It was the city where I lived for 4 years. It was in the city that I lived for 4 years.2. It is the fact that Jane has won the first prize in the English competition. (同位语从句)This is the fact that makes us happy. (定语从句)六. “Im proud of what I did but I was just doing what Id been taught, ” John said.本句是but连接的转折句。句中有两个what宾语从句: what I did 作介词of的宾语,而此处的what在宾从中作did的宾语; what Id been taught作doing的宾语, 这个what则在宾从中作taught的宾语。What作连接代词时,引导名词性从句,what常在从句中充当主语,宾语,或者表语。Eg: What was once regarded as impossible has now becom
