Ability Objects (1) Ss learn to talk about what people were doing at some time in the past. (2) Ss can role play the conversations and take part in kinds of activities. 3. Moral Object Students learn to make full use of their time and always remember the past good time with their friends and parents. Teaching Key Points: (1) Key Vocabulary:rainstorm, waiting for the bus, doing homework, (2) Target Language: What were you doing when the rainstorm came? I was doing my homework. What was she/ he doing at the time of the rainstorm? She/ He was reading in the library. What were they doing at this time yesterday? They were playing soccer on the playground.Teaching Difficult Points: Ss learn to talk about what people were doing at some time in the past ,role play the conversations and take part in kinds of activities. Teaching Methods: Listening, speaking, discussion, groupwork , role playing and writing. Teaching Aids:PPT and a tape recorder.Teaching ProceduresStep 1. Presentation:1. PPT show a picture of rainstorm . T: Can you remember what you were doing at the time of the rainstorm? Ask some students to give their answers.2. PPT show some pictures of some peoples activities and ask students to talk about what they were doing. Step 2. Chant and Guessing game1. Ask Ss to read the chant together with music.2. T helps students introduce the usage of “Past Continuous Tense”.3. Have a guessing game about the peoples activities.4. Ask two groups of boys and girls to ask and answer in front. Step 3. Doing match task and listening practice.1. Ask students to look at the pictures in 1a and guess where they were when the rainstorm came ,finish the match task.2. Ask Students to listen to the conversations twice and choose the right answers.3. Ask two groups of students to role play the conversations among the reporter and the four interviewees. Step 4. Making a survey. 1.T: Now I want to learn about what you were doing at 9am, 4pm and 9pm. Please interview your partners and then make a report. 2. Ask some students to make their reports.Step 5. Sweet Memories. (Writing practice) 1. PPT show a picture of a whole family, it was 6pm yesterday.(father:reading the newspaper; sister: watching TV;brother: doing his homework; I :helping mom cook dinner) Ask students to write a short passage to describe what they were doing at that time. 2. Ask some students to read out their passages. 3.T: We should make full use of our time and will never forget the past good time with our friends and parents. Step6. Homework design: 1. Talk about what people were doing at some time in the past. 2. Write a short passage about peoples activities at a given time in the past. Step 7.
