Generalize the appearance of a character and deduce his/her character.Students analysisThe students in Grade Seven have learned about What does he like? this special interrogative sentence. With learning this unit knowledge premise, they can naturally with this topic cohesion. Talking about peoples appearance is contact with our everyday topic, so the students like to use English to express such knowledge. Whats more, the teacher leads into the topic by describing himself/herself, in this way students will be more interested in it.Period One1、 Teaching Content: Unit 9 What does he look like? (Section A 1a-2c)二、Teaching Objectives: After the lesson, students can be able to1. remember and recognize the words and expressions: hair, curly, straight, height, tall, short, medium, thin, heavy, build, be of medium height/build.2. master the sentence structures: - What does he look like? -He is tall, and he has short straight hair. -What does she look like? -She is of medium height, and she has long straight hair3. describe ones appearance appropriately and politely.4. use the words “be”/“have” appropriately.三、Teaching Key and Difficult Points: 1. Use the words “be”/“have” appropriately.4、 Teaching Procedures: Step 1 Warming up and lead-in 1. Greetings.(Good morning, class!/ How are you?) 2. T: but I am not fine, do you know? Why?. Because my height and build.Step 2 Present the new words and expressions 1. Use the topic to lead and teach the new words(short, tall, of medium height, thin, heavy, of medium build). 2.T: Now I want to describe my hair, do you know how to say? And then lead the students to learn the expressions: long hair, short hair, curly hair, straight hair. 3.Go over the spelling and the pronunciation of the new words with the students. 4. Work on 1a. Let the students match the words with the people in the picture. Then check the answers and read together. Step 3 Present the new sentence structures 1. T: now if we dont know ones look, what can we ask others? Then help the students to say the sentences and present them on the blackboard.What does he look like? He is tall, and he has.2. Explain “look like”.3. Teach the students read the sentences.4. Choose two students(a boy and a girl) to stand in the front of the classroom, and ask others to describe them one by one.Step 4 Ask and answer 1. Make conversations with some students. T: Do you have a friend? S: Yes, I do. T: A boy or a girl? S: A boy/girl. T: What does he/she look like? S: He/She is., and he/she has . hair. 2. Then ask students to practice the conversations in pairs. 3. Choose some pairs to share their conversations with the class.Step 5 Listening practice 1. Work on 1b. Listen carefully and fill in the blanks and find Amys friend? Introduce three persons: David, Sally and Peter. Let the students listen Activity 2b carefully, and fill in the chart. Then check the answers.3.
