Tell students that in this unit ,they will learn to express how toget to places.2. Play a guessing game. Give some clues on the screen, ask students to guess what means of transportation it is according to the clues. Eg. It is like a train but goes under the ground. -Subway Give encouragements and praise if needed3. Show pictures on the screen, teach different means of transportation, teach verb phrases of this unit, ask students to add more if they know. Eg. take the train, take a bus, ride a bike 4. Read the title of this unit: How do you get to school? Let them answer the question according to their own situations. ( In our school, most of the students walk, take a bus(school bus), ride their bikes to school.) III. Presentation1a 1. T: Look at the picture on your book. Match the words with the picture. Ask a student to write the answers on the screen. Check the answers. If the student is right , give praise; if he/she is wrong, give encouragements.2. Show more pictures on the screen to learn new language structure: take+a/the+different means of transportation & by+different means of transportationAsk students to say sentences using the new language structure they learned by themselves. (Give an example first.)Ask different students to have a try.Give help when they need.4. Free talk: Talk about how their friends or parents get to places. Randomly ask some students to tell us the answers. 1b.Listening 1. Make sure the students know what to do. Give them an example orally if they need. 2. Read the names in the box. Students repeat. 3. Play the recording two times. Ask a student to write the answers on the screen. 4. Check the answers. Pair work 1.Ask two students to read the dialogue in the speech bubbles to the class.2.Then ask students to work in pairs. Ask and answer how students get to school in the picture.3.Finally ask some pairs of students to present their conversations to the class. Listening 1. Revise the numbers, first, zeronine, next, tennineteen, then, twenty, thirty, fortyfinally, twenty-one, twenty-twoTeach the new word hundred.2. Play the recording for the students to finish 2a. Then play again and check the answers .3. Ask students to come to the blackboard to have a number reading competition.Find out who reads best. The best student gets the highest scores.If the scores are low, ask the student to read the number again.Homework1. Remember the new words and expressions in this period. 2.
