Ben was helping his mom make dinner when the rain began to beat heavily against the windows. .教学难点用过去进行时来描述事件的发生。.教学步骤Step 1 Leading in 1 Revision: The teacher shows some important phrases.Ask students to translate the following expressions. 1. at the time of 在时候 2. wait for the bus 等公交 3. go off (闹钟)响 4. take a hot shower 洗个热水澡 5. miss the bus 错过公交 6.pick up / answer the call 接电话 7. rain heavily 雨下得很大活动目标:通过词汇复习,预热头脑。激活学生的记忆能力,并为接下来的学习做好知识铺垫Step 2 Leading in 2 The teacher can give some explanation about “ rainstorm”: If it is raining for a long time ,it will become rainstorm. Ask students to translate the following the sentence. Many people were caught in the rainstorm yesterday. 昨天很多人都遭遇了暴风雨。 活动目标:利用已知词组,引申出“ rainstorm”,让学生知道“暴风雨”。做好整句翻译的准备,鼓励学生自主翻译。Step 3 Leading in 3 The teacher shows the picture of rainstorm.The teacher:“ In summer, there are always storms, right? And the storms always bring us some problems . Look at the pictures on the screen. What can you see?”1. Black clouds were making the sky very dark.2. Fallen trees. The neighborhood in a mess.3. Broken windows and rubbish were everywhere.The teacher:“Why the writer said Do you think a storm can be good for people?.”活动目标:通过课本图片,预测文章主题。用实景展示,使学生透过图片信息感受学习内容。暴风雨是一场灾难,但作者却说暴风雨使人们“closer together”。为什么呢?引领学生进入今天的文章主题。Step 4 SkimmingAs the saying goes, “Every coin has two sides.” While the storms can cause lots of damage to the environment, the storm can be good for us. Ask students to read the passage on page 35 quickly and answer the questions.1. What was the weather like before the heavy rain started? Answer:Black clouds were making the sky very dark. it felt like midnight. 2. What was the neighborhood like after the storm?Answer:The neighborhood was in a mess. Fallen trees, broken windows and rubbish were everywhere.活动目标:通过快速阅读,培养学生抓取关键信息的能力。特别是问题中“before”,“after”的关键提示。学会通过阅读文段中的主旨句来完成任务。 Step 5 Scanning Section A 3b The teacher :“now lets move to some details of the passage. Please look at 3b. You have to read the passage again and complete the sentences.” 1.When the news on TV was reported, strong winds _outside.2. And what other things can bring people closer together?The _Brought People Closer Together. 1.Earthquake 2. Fire and so on.活动目标:利用文段标题填空的形式,带领学生进入3c的话题讨论。“Although the storm broke many things apart, it brought families and neighbors closer together.” How can we help each other in times of difficulty?Have Ss discuss as a class or in small groups. Have Ss express their opinions about big events. Encourage them to say the reasons why big events can bring people together.(学生讨论之后,让组长代表发言展示讨论结果,最后给出参考ideas)(1) cheer people up by saying some kind words to encourage them (2) donate clothes, food, and other things to those who need help(3) donate some money to those who lost their homes(4) send some police officers and doctors to save the people in danger活动目
