Greetings.2. Revision.(1).Revise some key words, phrases and sentences learned in Section A.(2).Ask and answer questions like this:T: What are you doing now?S1: Im having an English class.T: How is it going with you?S2: Its not bad.T: How is the weather today?S3: Its sunny.T: Yes, youre right. Its sunny today. We can also say “Its warm today.” Next, lets learn some other words to describe the weather.3. T: Look at the pictures on the screen and tell me how the weather is in each picture. (Show some pictures and the students say the words about the weather one by one: warm, hot, cool, cold, dry, humid)Step 2 Presentation1. Teach activity 1a.Focus on the five pictures in 1a.T: How is the weather in each picture? Look at the pictures carefully and match the pictures with the correct words in the box.Students do it individually and later check the answers together.The teacher talks about each picture with students by asking questions like this:T: How do you know the weather in picture a is cold?Ss: We can see snow and ice in the picture. We can see a girl is wearing warm clothes. (The teacher can add more if necessary.) Ask the students to read the following sentences after me.How is the weather in picture a/ b/c/d/e?Its cold/warm/hot/dry/cool.2. Teach activity 1b.Ask students to work in pairs to ask and answer questions about the weather in the pictures in 1a. Then ask some pairs to act out their conversations.Step 3 Listening1. Teach activity 1c & 1d.T: Now well hear a conversation between Mary and Eric. Please listen carefully and write their answers to the three questions. I play the recording the first time, you just write the answer to the question “Hows it going?” I play the recording the second and third time, you have to write the answers to the two questions “What are you doing?” and “Hows the weather?”Play the recording for three times. Students fill in the chart.Finally, ask several students to answer the questions.Step 4 Pair-work1. Teach activity 1e.The teacher present a model conversation between Mary and Eric on the screen. Then divide students into two groups to role-play the conversation. The girls role-play Mary and the boys role-play Eric.Step 5 Talking1. Teach activity 2a.T: Look at the three pictures in 2a. Work with your partner and talk about these pictures. Talk about them like this:A: Hows the weather in picture a?B: Its A: what is she doing?B: She is Give them two minutes to do it.Later invite three pairs to act out for the whole class.Step 6 Reading1. Teach activity 2b & 2c.Fast readingT: Here are two postcards in 2b. Do you know who wrote the first postcard and who wrote the second one?Ss: Su Lin wrote the first one and Dave wrote the second one.T: Yes, you are right. Then do you know whom they wrote to?Ss: To Jane.T: Yes, great! Su Lin and Dave are on a summer vacation in different countries. They each write a postcard to their friend, Jane and tell her about their vacations. Now please read the two postcards quickly and match each postcard with the correct picture in 2a. That is to say, find out who is Su Lin and who is Dave. You need to scan the passage and find the key sentences quickly. T.he key sentences can help you know the answer. Now do it.Then ask one student to say the answer and the key sentences he or she finds.Carefully reading T: Now please read the first postcard carefully and answer the following questions.(Present the questions on the screen)Students read the first postcard while listening to the tape.
