Unit 8 Is there a post office near here?Section B ( 1a-1d )一、教学目标:(一)知识掌握:1. 学习词汇 neighborhood, straight, turn, left, down, right, on the right 等。2. 语言目标:Ask for and give directions on the street. 重点句型:Just go straight and turn right/left. Its down on the right/left.(二)能力培养:1. 左(left)和右(right)的分辨。2. 通过这堂课,能让学生用简单的几个词 go straight, turn left/right, on the left/right, down 给他人指路。3. 使用礼貌用语:Excuse me. Thank you very much. Youre welcome/ Thats all right/.(三)情感体验:能过问路和指路让学生感受助人为乐的乐趣。二、教学设想:(一)重点和难点:1. 重点:问路和指路。句型:Is there a near hear/ in the neighborhood? Go straight and turn left/right. Its down on the left/right.2. 难点:要使学生能在看地图给他人指路时,把自己设身处地地放到地图当中去,不然很难搞清楚何为左何为右。同时要熟练掌握指路时的几个重点句子,能举一反三。(二)基本思路: 由于学生的抽象思维能力还不是很强,而在地图上给他人指路时,需要学生能将自己置身其中,以便清楚地指点方向。所以在设计课件的时候通过图片一步一步引导学生把自己放入到地图当中去,对重点的词汇和句型也是设法由简到繁、由浅到深一步步层层递进。如,先用一张全家福引入left和right,由left 和right 再引申到on ones left/on ones right,然后借由交通标志引出turn left/turn right 和go straight。通过简单的地图让学生把几个重点的词组串连起来,进行简单的指路。然后再通过比较抽象的地图让学生进行问路和指路的练习。最后通过几个练习让学生能熟练掌握如何问路和指路。一 、Teaching aim:In this class, Ss learn to ask for and give directions on the street, and help others in our daily life.Topic: The neighborhoodFunctions: Ask for and give directions on the streetKey words and phrases:along, turn, right, left, crossinggo along, turn right, turn left, across from, between and, next to, in front ofImportant sentence structures:l Is there a near here/ around here/ in the neighborhood?l Yes, there is. Just go along and turn right/left l Turn right/ left at the crossing and the is on your right/ left.l Its down on the right/left.Teaching difficulties:To teach Ss give directions on the map, and help others by using the sentences which learned in this class.Teaching method: Look-and- speak activity, pair work二、Teaching procedures:Step1 Review Show a simple map on the screen.T: Boys and girls, please look at the map. Is there a supermarket near here? Ss: Yes, there is.T: Where is it?Ss: It is next to the hotel.Ask Ss some other places like this. Review the expressions: next to, in front of, between and, across from, behind, onStep2 Lead-inT: Boys and girls, do you know “left” and “right”? On the screen, you can see a picture of Bobs family. Bobs father is on his right and his mother is on his left. Now , can you tell me who is on your right, and who is on your left?Ask several Ss to answer the questions and practice the phrases on your right/ left.Teach on the right/ left. Show map to make Ss use on the right/left.Step3 1aShow some pictures to the Ss and let them understand the meaning of them. Introduce go along, turn right and turn left to them.T: Do you know more traffic rules and signs?Then draw some simple street signs on the board. To have Ss explain what the street signs mean, i.e. from left to right: the speed limit is 20; no parking; dont turn left; dont turn right.Step4 ListeningAsk Ss to look at the picture in activity 1b, ensure Ss understand the places in the picture and where the speakers are located on the map before listening to the recording.T: Boys and girls, please look at the picture, can you find the two speakers? Theyre on the New Street. Well listen to a conversation. After that please write the correct place for each letter in the picture,Play the recording and ask Ss finish 1b. Then check the answers. 1c: To have Ss review the map and their answers from 1b, and then try to fill in the blanks. Then play the recording so they can check their answers. After that, check the answers one by one.Play the recording last time and ask Ss to read the conversation after recording without book.Step5 Pair workWrite an example on the screen.A: Is there a library near here?B: Yes, there is. Go along Bridge Street and turn left when you see a supermarket. The library is next to it. A: Thank you!B: Youre welcome.Then tell Ss that they can ask people to repeat directions or speak more slowly if they didnt understand or cant remember. For example:T: When we didnt understand or cant remember what other people say, we can say “Repeat that, please./ Can you say that more slowly, please.” Now, imagine you and your partner are two people in the picture in 1b. Make a conversation like the example I gave you.Some minutes later, ask some of them act their conversations out.Step6 PracticeShow a map on the screen.T: Please look at this map. Scrat is a stranger in this city. She wants to find his friend Sid. She doesnt know how to get there. Can you help her? Now, please work in groups, and discuss the way to Erics house.Then ask three Ss from three different group to report their results.Step7 Game (Who moved my cheese?) Ask Ss to look at the maze on the screen and help the mouse to find the cheese.Step8 SummaryIn this class, we have leaned to ask for and give directions on the street.
