Unit 7 Whats the highest mountain in the world?Section B(1a-1d)By Liao Qingli from Si Ping Middle SchoolGood morning ,ladies and gentleman! Im very happy to have a good chance to share my teaching ideas with you. Now Ill talk about Unit 7 Whats the highest mountain in the world? Section B(1a-1d) in Book , Grade 8. There are six parts in my introduction: Analysis of Teaching Material, Students, Teaching Methods, Learning Ways, Teaching Procedures and Teaching Predictions.【Analysis of teaching material】1: Status and FunctionsThis lesson is the fifth lesson of Unit 7, The topics of this unit are to talk about geography and nature and give Ss practice in using the target language in writing. This lesson is to compare facts and talk about the animals in danger .And its also the transition from listening and speaking to writing in this Unit. It forms a connecting link between the preceding and the following. They will lay a good foundation for students further study.2: Learning Aims and Demands1) Knowledge objects:Students should have a full understanding of the target language structure, they can master some useful words, such as weigh/adult and so on, and master the phrases, like at birth/ live up to etc. and the sentences that compare the facts. like This elephant weighs many times more than this panda.2)Ability objects:Students should understand how to use the comparatives and superlatives with adjectives and adverbs to compare the animals and use the truth number to tell the facts. So the whole class is to improve the Ss ability of speaking to listening to writing. 3)Moral objects:Through this lesson, the students facts about the world achievements will be improved. It can arose their interests in English culture. Also in the process of completing the listening tasks, and improve the ability of listening skills like circling the key words and guessing the answer first. through the practice ,the students can learn to work together and help each other.3: Important Points and Difficult Points1) Important points:Through this lesson, the students learn to describe the facts by using the numbers. and direct their attention to the words used in the measurements .The students learn more about the comparatives, especially like many times more.2)Difficult points:Understand and use the comparatives and superlatives with adjectives and adverbs to compare the animals and use the true numbers to tell the facts more.4: Teaching AidsPPT will be needed in this lesson. It plays a very important role in English listening class. Before listening, it helps to introduce some knowledge to the students directly by watching the pictures .【Analysis of students】The students in Grade 8 have learned English over six years so far. They have already mastered some vocabularies and English language points. So they have the foundation of speaking and listening. The students have taken great interests in English, but some of them are weak in listening, I will encourage them to say out something about what they want to say. And tell them the skills of listening before we start . It makes the students with different levels be active and let them help each other. It can also give students confidence in listening. .【Analysis of Teaching methods】In this lesson I will use “5p”teaching method and “three steps” teaching method .They can let the students have the colorful and direct classes.In this class, Ill mainly use “5p”-Teaching-Mode to make my class more efficient. This teaching mode is different from traditional teaching methods. Its aimed at teaching and learning of teaching materials to improve students comprehensive listening ability. There are five steps ,and each step s English meaning starts up with a letter p, so they are called“5p”-Teaching-Mode for short. The core contents of this teaching mode are speaking for listening, listening by speaking, writing after speaking and learning. In this lesson ,I give the students some learning tasks. I want to make the students the real masters in class while the teacher himself acts as a director. .【Analysis of Learning ways】The Standard of English Course emphasizes that we should combine the English teaching with emotional education organically. Cooperation is the best way for the students to learn the English language. The group cooperative learning model applied to the class teaching can make my class more efficient. So in this class, I will create all kinds of cooperative learning activities. I can encourage students to learn from each other, let them experience the sense of achievement and develop their cooperation spirit. In a word, in the teaching with the method of group cooperative learning, it will form between teachers and students, students and students of all-round, multi-angle communication mode. .【Analysis of Teaching procedures 】Look at this design of my lesson ,Ill finish this lesson in five steps. Now Ill introduce to you one by one. First Ill divide the students into groups and bring a competition into the class. At last lets see which group the winner is. Step 1 PreparationIn order to review the language they have learned. I design a free talk. just ask two students to compare them. It is easy for everyone. So some students may be interested in this class. Step 2 PresentationThis step is to present the new language, I use two pictures, one is a baby ,one is an adult. and talk about their height and weight.Next step ,in order to create the interest ,I design a game that telling the truth. I use my own picture to tell them ,I am 16o cm. and I weigh 53 kg. then they will tell their own information easily.The third step, I use my son and my picture to them. And present the comparisons sentences .like I am 90 cm taller than my son./ I weigh many times/much more than my son./ My son is 90 cm shorter than me./ My son weighs many times/much less than me.Step3 Practice This step is the most important step in this class. In order to let students understand the sentences, like The elephant weighs many times more than the panda. The panda weighs many times less than the elephant. It needs to drill more times. and group work to practice more. And then they practice listening for numbers by playing a broken phone game. It is difficult for teachers to control the game, but it is interested for students.Step4 ProductionThis part is the most difficult for students ,so I design 2 listening tasks. They are from easy to difficult .and the last task is close to the test. we often say “practice makes perfect”. If we always practice listening like having a test, they will not be afraid of listening in the future. when I check the answer ,I divide the tape into different parts for each question. Step5 ExpandingThis is the last step in this lesson. To consolidate the language knowledge and improve students comprehensive abilities . Let the students further familiar with the teaching contents. It can train the students memory and let the students creative use what they have learned .then use the language they know to make sentences about the main knowledge in this class. This activity can really make students learn by using, learn to use. Ill give some exercises to consolidate the target language. Finally, look at my design on the blackboard. Its very clear for students to see, to read.【Teaching Predictions】In this class, the teacher will pay
