Unit 3 At the zooPart A Lets learn Lets do Cheng MingliI. Teaching aims: 1. Be able to listen, say and recognize the main words: fat, thin, tall, short. 2. Be able to understand and take actions according to the commands in Lets do.II. Analysis of the students: Students have grasped the basic sentences and the adjectives from Lets talk in Part A. They can say “Look at that monkey. Its ”.III. Teaching contents: 1. Textbook: Lets learn and Lets do in part A. 2. Keywords: fat, thin, tall, short. 3. Main sentences: Look at that monkey. Its IV. Key point and difficult point: 1. Key point: The usage of keywords and main sentences. 2. Difficult point: The pronunciation of “th” in thin and “a” in fat .V. Teaching preparation: Word cards and PPTVI. Teaching procedure: 1. Warm-up: Daily greetings; Intention: Create atmosphere for learning English and help students enter learning state. 2. Review: Game: guess out the animals. Intention: Get students ready for the entry of new knowledge. 3. Presentation: (1) Show the picture of a fat monkey in PPT to introduce the new word of “fat” and ask them to read after the tape. (2) Lead students to spell “fat” and read it for several times. Have some students read it. The more, the better. (3) Game: Drive trains. Have two or three teams read the word. Praise the quicker team. And then have students read the word quickly. (4) Lead students to take actions according to “Be fat, be fat, be fat, fat, fat.” And have them do it for two times. (5) Lead students read the sentence of “Look at that monkey. Its fat.” (6) Show pictures of some animals to consolidate the words. (7) Using the similar way to introduce the other three words and the sentences. At the same time, practice the words of thin, tall and short by using games of “boys VS girls” and adjusting volume. Intention: Vivid pictures will help students to grasp key words and main sentences better. Teaching the phrases can help students to get ready for Lets do. 4. Practice: (1) Play the video of Lets do. Ask students to take action and read after the record, and play the game of “ I do, you say” . Then have two groups to the board. Teacher says a word, the rest students say the sentence, and the groups do actions according to the sentences. (2) Game: Whats missing? Show students the word cards and then hide one. Ask students which card is missing. Then add new word cards that we have learned and continue the game. (3) Game: whos faster? First the teacher divide students into four groups. Each group set one student come to the blackboard .Then other students look at the teachers mouth, and guess which word the teacher is saying. At last they touch the cards acoording the words other students are saying. The winner is the student who is fastest.(4) Show your family: Teacher ask students draw a picture of their family.Then students introduce their family to us .Eg: Look at my_. He/She is _. (5) Exercise 1: Link the words with the animals.(6) Exercise 2: Fill blanks according to the pictures. (7) Pair-work: Ask one student to the board and read the dialogue with teacher, and then have students read it in pairs. After practicing and teachers help, have some pairs to the board to play it. Intention: Proper exercise will help students to consolidate the vocabulary and sentences. 5. Moral education: In this part, the teacher will show some pictures of bad behaviors at the zoo and criticize the behaviors. Intention: Remind students to get rid of the bad behaviors and love animals. 6. Homework: (1) Listen carefully and read after the tape, your parents should sign on your books. (2) Draw your favourite animal and introduce it to your desk mate, using the sentence of “Look at my Its ” Intention: Consolidate stude
