Words and phrases: watch TV, read a newspaper, use the computer, listen to a CD, wash the dishes, talk on the phone, clean, exercise, make soup, etc.2. Sentences: -What are you doing? -Im watching TV. -What is he/she doing? -He/ She is exercising. -What are they doing? -They are making soup.Be+V-ing. Teaching Objectives1. Teaching Aims and Demands Knowledge Objectives: Key words and target language.2. Ability Objectives: Train students listening and speaking skill.3. Moral Objectives: Students can learn to observe what other people are doing( especially observe their parents) by using or learning the sentence pattern “What are you doing?/ What is he/she doing?”, hence they can pay attention to this and be more considerable and willing to offer help. Greetings , Duty-report& Warm-up T: Class begins. Good morning, everyone. S: Good morning, Ivy.T: Whos on duty today?S1: I am. Today is April 17th . The weather is fine. Its sunny. Everyones here. Thank you.Step 2. Lead-in 1. A GAME : Me, Too!I can play basketball.I go to bed early.I get to school on foot.I like pandas.I am having an English class now.2. A Guessing Game : What am I doing? (The teacher do some actions and ask students to say the words or phrases.)Step 3. Presentation. 1. T: Im watching TV. Read after me. Im watching TV. What am I doing? Yeah, Im talking on the phone. Repeat, Im talking on the phone. Im cleaning. Im exercising. Im running.Question: Think about the tense.The Progressive Tense.2. What is he doing? He is using the computer.3. What is she doing?She is making soup. 4. What are they doing?They are making soup.5. What is the bird doing?It is flying.6. Draw a conclusionThe Present Progressive Tense: Be (am, is are)+ V-ingV-ing e.g. : (1) read- reading, walk- walking, sleep- sleeping. (2) write- writing, make- making, take- taking. (3) run- running, swim- swimming, sit- sitting.Step 4. Practice.1. Make conversations according to the pictures on PPT.What are you doing? /What is he doing?/ What is she doing?etc.Ask some pairs to present their dialogues. 2. Do the activity in 1a.Students do first, then check answers. The answers are: i, d, g, a, h, e, b, c, f.Then ask students to read them together.3. Listening. Listen and do 1b.Pay attention to the names before listening. Then check answers: 1, 8, 5.Listening skill: Listen to the key wordsnames and activities.Next, listen and repeat after the tape.Finally read it together.4. Pair-workTwo students work together, ask and answer questions together according to 1c.5. A Guessing Game. What is he/ she doing?Present pictures and ask students to guess.Step 5. Drills.
