Warm-up1.Greetings.2.Free talk: Whats the date today? What day is it today? Whats the weather like today?Step II.Presentation.1.Lead-in.T:Whats your favorite subject?S1:T:Whos your teacher?S1:T:Is he /she tall?S1:T:Today we will learn how to describe peoples looks.2.Teach new words.straight,curly,tall,short,of medium height/build,thin,heavy3.Present the sentence structures:What does he/she look like?He/She is4.Teach Activity 1a.Point out the numbered list of words in 1a and let students read the words after me.Call attention to the picture.Point to the letters next to the people in the picture.Ask students to match the people with one of the numbered words.Tell them they can use some letters more than once.5.Have students practice conversations according to the pictures. Step III.Practice1.Listening practice.(Activity 1b)T:Youll hear a conversation between Amy and her friends.Fill in the blanks in their conversation. Then look at the picture and find the boy Amy is talking about.Play the recording the first time.Students only listen.Play the recording a second time.This time ,students fill in the blanks in the speech bubbles and find out Amys friend.2.Speaking practice.Ask some pairs to talk about peoples looks in the pictures.3.Pairwork.(Activity 1c)First ,lead students to read the example conversation together.Then ask them to talk about the looks of the people in the picture.One describes,the other guesses. Finally,invite several pairs to act out for the whole class. 4.A guessing game. T:Do you have a good friend in our class? Can you describe him or her?Lets guess. StepIV.Consolidation.1.Lets chant!2.A drawing game.T: You know ,I have an eight-year-old daughter.Now I say something about her.Please listen carefully and draw a picture of her,OK?Students listen and draw the pictures.Ask one or two students to show the pictures and talk about it.3.Lets talk!What do you look like?
