Key sentences: Learn to talk about and describe what people look like. - What does your friends look like?- She is of medium build, and she has long hair.- What do you look like? - Im short, Im thin.- What do they look like? - Theyre of medium height.- What does he/she look like? - He/She is of medium build.2. Ability goals:Enable the student to listen to descriptions about peoples looks and talk about them.3. Learning ability goals:Help the students learn how to listen to descriptions about peoples looks and talk about them.4. Emotional goals:1). Bring up the students feeling of solicitude and friendship to the people around them.2). Help students know “We cant judge a person only by their appearance.”. Teaching important/difficult points:1. How to listen to descriptions about peoples looks and talk about them.2. Using of “is” and “has”. Teaching aids:A tape record and some pictures about people . Teaching methods:1. With the studying strategies of guessing and sequencing ,get the students to do pairwork to talk about peoples physical appearance by looking at the teaching courseware, pictures, flashcards.2. Get the students to learn to describe peoples appearance and practice listening and speaking by discussing and making a survey. . Teaching procedures:Step 1. Warming up and lead in.T: Good morning! Boys and girls, Its sunny/rainy/cloudy.,. today, isnt it? S: Yes, it is.T: How is it going? S: Its great/not bad/.T: What are you doing? S: Im .T: Do you have good friends? S: Yes, I do.T: I have a good friend, too. She comes here with me today , let me introduce her to you. ( show the picture ). What does she look like? Help the students to answer.She is thin. /She is of medium height. /She has curly hair.T: Now look at the following pictures and talk about what they look like.Show the pictures and help the students to say.Step 2. Talking about the picture.1. Ask the students to read the words and match them with the pictures in 1a.2.Ask the students to talk about the picture in 1a.1). How many children can you see? 2). What do they look like?3). Can you use the given words to describe them?Encourage or help the student to say something about the picture using the words. (The girl numbered a has straight hair,I think she is meduim build-).3. Ask the students to make some conversations.- What does he/she look like? - He/She is .,He/She has .Step 3. Listening1. Ask the students to listen and fill in the blanks,find out Amys friend.2. Ask the students to read and act out the conversation in the picture, then ask the students to talk about their best friends in pairs.3. Ask the students to listen to the recording and circle the words “has” or “is”.Now listen to the recording. The people are talking about their friends, they are using the words to describe their friends. Some of the words go with “has” and some go with “is”, please circle the correct word after you listen again, either is or has .4. Ask the students to listen once again and fill in the chart in 2b.Play the recording once again and then check the answers. 5.Ask the students to talk about the chart.4. Ask the students to listen and fill in the blanks,find out Amys friend.5. Ask the students to read and act out the conversation in the picture, then ask the students to talk about their best friends in pairs.Ask the students to listen to the recording and circle the words “has” or “is1.Get the students to play the guessing game.Now I have a good friend in our class,I will describe her/him to you,please guess who she/he is.2. Get the students to talk about the picture in 3.Please look at the picture in 3, Nancy is Lilys friend, can you describe Nancy? You can try! 3. Get the students to complete the conversation and act it out.6. Get the students to make a new conversation, you can describe one of your teachers.Step 5. Grammar focus1. Ask the students to read the sentences in the grammar box., then make some sentences with the words “do”or “does”; “is”or “has”.2. Get the students to sum up how to use the words “do” or “does”; “is” or “has” correctly. The teacher can give some help.Step 6. Practice1. Fill in the blanks with is, are, do, does, have, or has.2. Talk about your teachers looks with your classmates, and then write them down.Step 7. Summary1. Words and phrases about peoples hair, height and build.2. key sentences.3.
