7A Unit1 This is me!TaskPicheng Middle school Ma Lianying一、 Teaching objectives 1. Analysis of the teaching materialJEFC Curriculum Standards promotes the task-based teaching method which shares a belief that language should be learned as close as possible to how it is used in real life. This method makes students want to communicate with each in English classes. They will succeed leaning how to use the language naturally.This class is a writing lesson. It is designed several tasks trying to respect the students characteristics according to the Curriculum Standards. The students can learn some writing skills by finding out the key points. Try to stimulate the students interest and develop their learnig abilities. The students can experience the feeling of success. 2. Analysis of students Junior students are teenagers. They are curious, active and energetic. Theyre eager to know something new. They enjoy learning in the exciting, interesting and relaxed atmosphere. However, they easily lose confidence in face of difficulties, it is necessary for teacher to give more encouragement! Its a hard job to focus their attentions, and all the teaching activities should be within their abilities and developmental stage. We need to give a variety of tasks that help sutdents learn in different ways.3. Dimensions goalsBased on JEFC Curriculum Standards and the teaching material, the dimensions goals are classified Knowledge aims , Ability aims and Emotion aims .1). Knowledge Aims. Words: dark, polite, helpful, eye, lessonb. Phrases be born, listen to music, be good at, play with, 12 years oldc. Sentence My hair is black. I have black hair 2). Ability AimsThis period mainly improve students abilities of speaking, reading, listening and writing. Especially the abilities of writing and understanding.Develop students Confidence, Cooperation, Creativity , communication based on learning in this class.3). Emotion AimsThe game is designed in the teaching process in order to attract students interest in English . The students can improve confidence and develop cooperation spirit themselves during the activity.4 .Teaching methodsA. Student-centered: a. In class, students are encouraged to express their opinions by discussing and talking.b. Students are allowed to speak and listen to each other, offer and accept each others help. The teacher can give some suggestions if possible.B. Task-based Teaching: Task-based Teaching Method puts the emphasis on learning how to communicate through interaction in the target language. The teacher can assign students some different tasks.C. Communicative Language Teaching: The primary function of language is for interaction and communication. The teacher can ask the students to talk about subjects with their partners. This can help them know each other better5. To write about oneself and tell the class about oneself.Difficult points: To use the verb “to be” and “to do” correctly.like /love doing sth. 3.The way to work out the key and difficult points Step 1 Revision and lead-in (5)T: Weve got to know the six new students at Beijing Sunshine Secondary School. Who are they?Ss: Theyre Millie, Simon, Kitty, Amy, Sandy and Daniel.T: Let me see how well you know them.Who loves playing football after school? (Simon)Who is in the Reading Club? (Millie)Is Sandy slim and tall? (Yes)What does Kitty love doing? (Dancing)What sport is Amy good at? (Swimming)Does Daniel enjoy playing computer games or playing football? (Playing computer games)T: You know them quite well. What else do you know about them? (The students have a free talk.)T: Do you want to know more about these new students? Maybe you can make friends with some of them.Step 2 Listening and reading (6)1. Listen and answerT: If you want to know more about them. Lets listen to Millie introduce herself. Answer the following questions while listening: Where was Millie born? (She was born in Beijing.)What color are her eyes? ( Theyre dark brown.)What does she listen to at the weekend? ( She listens to CDs.)Does she have many friends? (Yes, she has lots of/ many friends.)2. Check the answers and explain the new words (dark brown, CDs ) through pictures. 3. Read after the tape.4. Encourage the students to ask the teacher questions voluntarily.5. Practice the useful expressions.T: Now you know a lot about Millie. Do you want to make friends with her? Why or why not?Step 3 Listening and reading (6)1. Listen and answer.T: Some of you like to make friends with boy students. Here is Daniel. Lets listen to him introduce himself. Answer the following questions while listening: Where does Daniel live now? (He lives in Beijing.)Does he love his lessons? (Yes, he loves all his lessons.)Is he good at sport? (No, he is not good at sport.)What do his friends think of him? (They think he is polite and helpful.)2. Check the answers and explain the new words (lesson, sport) through examples. (T: He likes Chinese lesson, English lesson, Math lesson and the other lessons.He is not good at football, basketball, running or swimming.)3. Read after the tape.4. Encourage the students to ask the teacher questions voluntarily.5. Practice the useful expressions.T: Now you know Daniel better. Do you want to make friends with him? Why or why not?Step 4 Reading and discussing the structure of profiles (5)T: Read Millies and Daniels profiles again, and try to tell how to write about oneself. What is each paragraph about? First discuss in groups.Ss: (The teacher offers the students some help if necessary. And write them on the blackboard. )The first paragraph: name, age, birth place and living place.The second paragraph: appearance (what he/she looks like)The third paragraph: hobbies and lessonsThe fourth paragraph: friends or personality(what kind of person he/she is)Step 5 Presentation and demonstration (5)1. The teacher presents an e-friends profile to give more different expressions and create a real situation to arouse the students writing interest.T: I also like to make friends. I have a lot of e-friends. Last week I got to know an e-friend called Liu Mei on the Internet.(show a photo of her) Look at the note of her profile on Baidu. Hello! I am Liu Mei. I am 13 years old. I was born in Changzhou and I live in Changzhou too. I study in Changzhou No.8 Middle School. I am in Class2 Grade 7. I am not tall. I have big black eyes and my hair is long and black.I love listening to pop music. Jay is my favorite singer. I like reading books and I do well in Chinese. I am not good at Math, but I work hard on it.I am kind and helpful. I have lots of friends at school. My teachers and classmates all like me very much. I hope to be a teacher when I grow up. What about you? 2. Ask and answer about the e-friend.T: What do you think of my e-friend? (She is beautiful, kind and helpful.) What is she good at? (She does well in/ is good at Chinese.) What is her dream? (She hopes to be a teacher when she grows up.) Would you like to make e-friends? (Yes.)Step 6 Discussing before writing (3)T: The more friends we make, the happier well be. Just send a note of your profile on Baidu. Before writing, first fill in the table with your own information. Discuss in pairs.
