IntroductionIn this paper, a skills audit to identify, review and assess own performance against management skills will be undertaken. Second, an analysis of personal strengths, weakness, opportunities and threats will be carried out. Third, supervisor objectives and targets to develop own potential will be set, prioritized and agreed with. Fourth, how own managerial and personal skills will support career development in a service industry will be explained. Fifth, a development plan to reflect career and personal development aspirations, current performance and future needs will be devised. Own Performance against Management SkillsFirst of all, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) will be undertaken as a skills audit to identify, review and assess own performance against management skill. The MBTI assessment is a psychometric questionnaire designed to measure psychological preferences in how people perceive the world and make decisions. And the MBTI typology model regards personality type is divided into four pairs of preferences or dichotomies, and each dichotomy has two directions. Totally, there are eight kinds of personality traits are shown in the table:DichotomiesExtravertIntrovertSensingintuitionThinkingFeelingJudgingPerceivingSecondly, through the MBTI report, my personality type is (Introvert, intuition, Feeling, Perceiving).My personality is as follows:1.Good at thinking and reflection, pay attention to the accumulation, strong adaptability, ability to perform force and respond to emergencies. 2.New knowledge and the ability of learning is also very strong.3.Wide range of interests, minded and flexible, and a sense of responsibility;4.Be good at praise and encourage others, and full of compassionate can better understand the needs and motivation of others.However, the disadvantages of my personality are:1.Too idealistic to ignore the reality of the basis and details;2.Communication is not good enough, so that others can not clearly understandAccording to my personality, my performance is careful, cautious and thoughtful person. In addition, I can also find the performance of the significance, orderly arrangement, make decisions with others. My management skills can focus on the growth and development to help others, such as performance, assistant, logistics personnel in the second place, my management skills are on behalf of the company, the companys daily routine.An Analysis of Personal SWOTSWOT Analysis is a strategic planning method used to evaluate the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of myself. A SWOT Analysis must first start with defining a desired end state or objective. Strengths: attributes of the person that are helpful to achieving the objective. Weaknesses: attributes of the person that are harmful to achieving the objectives. Opportunities: external/ conditions that are helpful to achieving the objectives. Threats: external/ conditions which could do damage to the objective.Furthermore, summary my personal SWOT Analysis can be through my family, relatives and some appropriate tests. Here is my personal SWOT Analysis:A. Strengthsa) Have a strong adaptability. When I faced a strange, complex, emergency or dangerous situation occurs, I was able to remain calm and play my ability.b) My characteristics are optimistic and cheerful, and have a positive attitude to life. I dont feel fear or unpleasant to deal with strangers.c) Encounter difficulties I am not easy to give up. There is a sprit of persistence.d) Have a good temper and a well psychological. It is less likely to feel anxiety and irritability under pressure. e) I am attentive to consider a rather meticulous.f) I have a sense of humor and participate in various cultural performances actively. Such as, singing and dancing. B. Weaknesses:There is no strong language organizational skills and negotiation skillsa) I am used to handle work in accordance with rules. I am lack of flexibility in some ways. b) My spoken English is fair. c) My verbal express is too detailed-oriented and less of concise in sometimes.d) I will hesitate before I make a decision, I am lack of decisive.e) I dont well in planning, so I often only achieve with short-term goals than long-terms goals, and the effect of result isnt obviously. C. Opportunities: a) The view point of career direction currently, it is still lack of management personnel in industries. Scarce of human resources, especially, the senior officers and senior personnel are rarely. So this is a promising direction. b) See from my major is business administration, Business Administration for each kind of work on the market, but on the other hand, it does not belong to their skills, it is easy to find a job in the market, but the salary is not high.c) In this position, performance assistant or logistics personnel, you can deeply understand the situation of each company, its operation, personnel recruitment and other aspects of things.d) Close to many excellent peers, there are many opportunities to learn from them, and have the condition to build a good interpersonal skill. D. Threats:a) There are over two months of summer jobs and a few years of working experience in a variety of industriesb) The global financial crisis hasnt yet warmed up, which means that may not be a lot of employment opportunities of many industries provided. c) There are many excellent people around me, and the opportunity isnt equal necessarily. At this time everyone isnt just focus on how to demonstrate individual knowledge, but also the more important thing is to find out opportunity and hold it to demonstrate your own ability. So now I should persist in effort to learn a good professional knowledge, and attend to improve my spoken English. Further, I should strengthen my own managerial capacity, and pay attention to maintaining own image. Developing Own PotentialThrough the SWOT Analysis and a series of personal career tests, including interest, personality, MBTI, values, creativity, interpersonal skills, adaptability and negotiation ability. I found that I am more and more interesting in business administration and I have set that as my career direction. In addition, my goal is to achieve management level. Following, I will depend on my goal, list out three aspects to develop my own potential.Firstly. Individuals with such tendencies, like a high degree of order, require clear work, the rules of fuzzy, the freedom is not very suitable for decision, accustomed to obedience, generally more loyal, reliable, communication will maintain a certain distance away from the people, the social status, usually willing to do general work in large institutions: bank staff, book management, accounting, cashier, statistical staff, computer operators, office staff. Smile. Do my best to be friendly and upbeat with my coworkers. Maintain a positive, cheerful attitude about work and about life. Smile often. The positive energy I radiate will draw others to me. Pay attention to others. Observe whats going on in other peoples lives. Acknowledge their happy milestones, and express concern and sympathy for difficult situations such as an illness or death. Make eye contact and address people by their first names. Ask others for their opinions. Humor them. Most people are drawn to a person that can make them laugh. Use my sense of humor as an effective tool to lower barriers and gain peoples affection.Development Plan Developing a career action plan is the fourth step in the career planning process. First step is going to have a thorough self assessment. My skills, interests, personality, and values play an important role in my career choice. I am not only a cheerful person, but also like to get along with people and cha with them. My advantages are reflected in: Have a strong adaptability. When I faced a strange, complex, emergency or dangerous situation occurs, I was able to remain calm and play my ability. Encounter difficulties I am not easy to give up. There is a sprit of persistence. I have a sense of responsibility, and willing to contact and communicate with others, am good to enlighten others. However, my disadvantages are reflected in: I am used to handle work in accordance with rules. I am lack of flexibility in some ways. I have a lack of enthusiasm for I am not interested in. I am not active to use of environmental resources, that isnt enough interactivity with the environment. I will hesitate before I make a decision, I am lack of decisive. I dont well in planning, so I often only achieve with short-term goals than long-terms goals, and the effect of result isnt obviously. Second step is going to complete a series of personal career tests as a tool to exam and help me to know myself clearly, which are interest, personality, MBTI, values, creativity, interpersonal skills, adaptability and negotiation ability. As a result, these tests report shows that I have the ability to develop my own managerial direction, and I am inclined in the service industries. Third step is going to find out which career is right for me. According to tests and personal preferences, the appropriate careers for me are including:n Business type and social type of workn Human Resources Manager, teacher, psychological consultantn Marketing people, public relations, sales manager, journalistFourth step is going to make career decision. And I have made up my mind to implement my personal development and value in hospitality management. My aspiration is to achieve management level. There are divided into aim, objective, and target to achieve my aspiration.Aim l It is the first thing for me to study hard in order to complete my studies successful. l Enhance my professional knowledge, use of spare time to enrich extra-curricular knowledge.l Enhance listening, writing and spoken English, read English newspapers, listen to English radio.l Be ready to individual Chinese and English resume.l To keep a good attitude to interview and should be more confident.Objectivel Doing everything from the basic level when I first into the hotel. Dont complaint.l I need to work hard, and dont be late for work, not leave early.l Get well along with colleagues, and improve my value constantly.l Being enthusiasm and sincere to meet customer needs.Targetsl Colleagues will agree and favor with me.l To be appreciated and promoted by leader within two years.l To become a department manager, and have an ability to handle and manage it.ConclusionThe phase type indicator (MBTI) as a skill audit to identify, review and evaluate their performance and management skills.
