english结合起来让学生了解并且谈论美国中学生的一些组织活动。把文章和后面的练习题放在一起上一节“泛读课”。2.3 把grammar(1),(2)和workbook的grammar整合在一起上一节“语法课”。2.4 将reading practice , speaking 和writing整合在一起上一节“阅读口语课。”2.5 将cultural corner (in china we have a party in our final year at school. we are asked to wear school uniforms because that is the last moment we are at school. some students give a talk, some sing songs, some dance. we enjoy ourselves at the party. everyone is relaxed after the national matriculation test. at the end of the party, we will end up with the song “we will get together in twenty years”.)3.3. i think prom night is after the final senior year exams.3.4. students receive their high school diploma at the end of their senior year.step ii readingdeal with the reading part.scanningask students to scan the text and try to guess the meaning of the word highlight and answer the questions in ex 1 on page 16.t: after we learned something about the american high school life, now lets read an article written by an american high school student. now look at the title please, highlights of my senior school year. please try to guess the meaning of the word highlight. i think you can get its meaning after you finish reading the text.three minutes later, ask students to speak out the meaning of the word highlight.t: now time is up. have you got the meaning of the word highlight?s1: i think it means “wonderful things or best things”. from the text, we can learn joanna is writing down the wonderful things that happened during her senior school year.t: quite correct. now please read the text quickly and find out the wonderful things in her senior school life.careful readingask students to read the text carefully and find out her successes in her senior school year.five minutes later, ask students to work in groups and deal with ex 1 on page 16. after their discussion, check the answers with the whole class. show the suggested answers on the powerpoint.suggested answers to ex 1:1.1. working as an arts editor for the school newspaperworking as a peer mediatorwinning their races on a short school skiing trip to rocket mountainsgetting good grades on her final examsreceiving the senior prize for english literaturegiven a car by her parentsbeing elected to the student councilbeing elected prom queenwatching the sunrise over the sea1.2. daniel, her dreamed boy invited her to the prom. they danced most of the dances together. she had a wonderful time. she looked very elegant and was elected prom queen. so she enjoyed it very much.step iii vocabularyask students to do vocabulary exercises in the reading. do ex 2 and ex 3 individually. then check the answers with the whole class.step iv explanationduring this procedure, teacher will play the tape for students. students will underline the difficult sentences. after listening to the tape, teacher will explain the text and deal with language problems. t: now we will deal with some difficult language focuses. now i will play the tape for you .please make a mark where you have difficulties.after listening to the tape, explain the difficult sentences to students. before explaining the difficult points, students are asked to refer to the notes to the text. t: do you have any difficulties with the text?s1: could you please explain the sentence to us:ive been skiing quite a few times, but never with the school, and since two good friends came on the trip, we had great fun racing each other down the ski lopes.t: here “quite a few times” means “many times”. from this sentence we can learn that joanna loves skiing, but that was the first time she went to ski with the school
