But before we start, we should know more about the destination we have chosen. This unit is arranged about the central topicDestinations. In Warming up, teacher will ask students to talk about the routes and more places in the world, improving the students geography knowledge. In studying the reading material “Destinations”, the students will know more sights in the world and other things with the help of the teacher. By studying this unit, students will also know that finding out more about the destination is not only a good way to save money and avoid problems, it can also be a lot of fun. As to GrammarNon-finite Verbs, a number of exercises are arranged. Its Hollywood.2. Its in Northern Africa. The climate there is extremely hot. But its exciting to travel across it on camels. Its Sahara.3. It in South America. It runs from the Andes to the sea. Its the second longest river in the world, after the Nile in Egypt. Its River Amazon.4. Its in China. Its a wonderful structure build by ancient Chinese people. It is said that “He who does not reach it is not a true man.” Its the Great Wall.5. Its covered with snow. Its at the bottom of the world. Its the worlds largest white continent. Its Antarctica.6. Its in Asia. Its a place which is difficult to reach. Standing on top of it, youre standing on top of the world. Its Mount Everest ( Mount Qomolangma).Step 3 Warming upUp to now, weve known so many places of interest in the world. Whats your favorite place?My favorite place is Tibet. I think Tibet is a beautiful place full of wonders. The people there are friendly and the scenery is amazing. So I would very much like to go there.Whats your favorite place? Why do you like it?Imagine that you are offered a free air ticket that will let you travel around the world and make five stops along the way. Where would you go and why?Sample:If I were offered the chance, I would like to visit Australia to see animals that can only be found there, like Kangaroo, Koala. And I would like to go to the Great Barrier Reef to see live coral. Then I will go to Brazil to see the rain forest. After that I will go to Netherlands to see beautiful flowers and windmills. France is also what I want to see because it is the center for art and fashion. And its culture affect many other countries in Europe. Finally I would visit Egypt. It is one of the places where the earliest civilization started. Whats more, I want to visit some beautiful places, such as Yellowstone National Park of USA(美国黄石国家公园), Statue of Liberty(美国纽约自由女神像), Times Square, New York City, USA (美国纽约时代广场), Central Park, New York City, USA (美国纽约中央公园), Hollywood, California, USA (美国加利佛尼亚好莱坞)and Disneyland, California, USA (加利佛尼亚迪斯尼乐园).Sb: I want to go to Paris because its a romantic city.Sc: I want to go to Egypt because its as famous as China. It has a long history. There I can visit Pyramid and Aswan High Dam.Sd: I like football very much, so I want to visit Brazil.Se: I prefer to go to Russia and see St Petersburg, which is a city of heroes. We have learned a text about it before. I am eager to visit it. The people of St Petersburg rebuilt it after it was completely destroyed but its people brought it back to life and it was as beautiful as it was before. But as for Chinas Yuanmingyuan, it was once destroyed, and was called the garden of all gardens. Its a pity that we cant see its beautiful scenery. So I admire St Petersburg and its people very much.
