Teaching aidsPPT pictures and a songTeaching proceduresStep 1 Warming-up and leading-inT: Good morning ,boys and girls! I am your new teacher this morning. You can call me miss Mai. Now, I am so happy to meet you all. And I want to introduce my family to you. Look, this is my husband, what does he look like? (a picture of a man on the screen)设计意图:用真实的相片激起学生说英语的兴趣,拉近师生的距离。同时检测学生对描写人的单词懂多少。Step 2 T shows the target. In this class, we are going to learn how to describe peoples look.Step 3 Presentation of the new words and expressions1. learn the words about height: tall, short, medium height and the sentence pattern: He is tall/He is short/He is of medium height by talking about the pictures.2. learn the words about build: heavy, thin, medium build and the sentence pattern: He is heavy, He is thin, He is of medium build by pictures.3. learn the words about hair: long hair, short hair, straight hair, curly hair, long straight blond hair by an activity “find the difference.”, and help them sum up how todescribe hair:长短+曲直+颜色。设计意图:用图片呈现目标单词和句子,对于高矮、 胖瘦的图片对比鲜明,学生印象深刻。Step 4 Check Ss awareness of the new words by matching the pictures with the words (1a) Students then read the difficult worlds: of medium height, of medium build, curly, straight. Step 5 Listening. Pre- listening: T shows Amys photo and help Ss answer: What does Amy look like? T help Ss understand the listening background: Amy is talking about her friend, lets listen and fill in the blanks. You can listen twice.While listening: the first time, check if any student get the answer, then the second time.After listening Can you find Amys friend? Read the listening material together.设计意图:通过听力再次输入并操练目标句型,通过找出Amy的朋友,检测学生是否懂得描写外貌句子的意思。Step 6 practice dialogues Ss listen to a part of the song, and guess who sing the song. Then talk about Han Hong. (组和组, 同桌和同桌操练 )A: What does she look like?B: She is short and heavy, She has short straight hair.设计意图:学生在没有障碍的情况下机械操练新句型会让他们更加自信。Step7 Ss practice dialogues by partners by pictures with clues: What does he/she look like? He/She is. He/She has(起来展示操练的同学为组加分)1, Ss talk about one students in the class (从班里的几个同学相片中选一张谈), 2, the other students guess who they are talking about.设计意图:通过机械操练目标句型到只提供句型,让他们自选形容词描述,从而进一步训练学生的运用语言的技能。Step8 Students talk about English teacher Emma设计意图:检测并挑战学生是在没有单词和句型的帮助下是否能自已表达别人的外貌。Step9 T helps the students to say more other possible worlds to describe peoples look.Big/small nose/mouth/ear/eyes round face 设计意图:让学生知道还有更丰富的语言描述外貌,激发他们学英语的求知欲。 Step10 play a competition.(抢答,为组加分)Ss choose a number on the board, and correct the sentences.1:He is medium height.2: She has black long curly hair.3 : She is long hair.4: He is tall.5: How does he look?
