Section B 2a-2c【Designer】Huang Xiaoyan Zhengzhou No.7 Middle School【Teaching Material】Go for it Book II【Course standard】1. Communicate in standard English, get familiar with the learning material and learn to catch the key information during learning. 2. Communicate with the partner fluently.3. Write an article according to the learning material and express the ideas【Learning material analysis】In this unit, students will learn how to talk about rules and learn to give some advice when others have problems. As the second class of Section B, this class aims at training the students speaking and reading abilities. Besides, according to the situation of the students in Grade 7, they will meet some problems when they grow up, so this class will also aim at make them know how to ask for help properly, how to get themselves out when they are in trouble and learn that English is not only important but also useful, and at last, help them have an active attitude towards life.【Students analysis】Students in Grade 7 are active and interested in English, however, they can not use the modal verbs freely so they need more practice and also they need to learn to share ideas with others about their problems. 【Teaching Ideas and Teaching Methods】Since this is a speaking and reading lesson, to encourage the students to take part in the class activities, I plan to have situational teaching method, task-based teaching methods and game-based teaching methods. Therefore, after this lesson, the students will learn how to talk about rules with others and will try to help others solve problems.【Learning Aims】1. Learn to find out details from scanning.2. Learn to use modal verbs to talk about family rules and give advice. 3. Learn to write down some advice about family rules.【Learning Important Points】1. The usage of the modal verbs.2. Use the modal verbs to talk about rules.3. Know about the importance of the rules. 【Learning Difficult Points】Use the modal verbs to talk about rules and learn to give others advice.【Teaching Evaluation】 Evaluation Design1. Communications between the teacher and students will evaluate the first and teaching aims.2. In-class presentation and activities will evaluate the second and third teaching aims.The ways of evaluationThis lesson will be evaluated by process evaluation, oral evaluation, self-evaluation of the students and evaluations among study groups.【Learning Steps】 Learning steps Teaching ActivitiesStudy ActivitiesAimsWarming-up and lead in(3 minutes)Say hello to students.Listen to an English song and lead in the topic.Listen to the song and think about their growing problems.Encourage the students to speak out the key words by asking them the topic-related questions.Reading practice of Mollys letter(6 minutes)i. Present a form.The teacher will show the students a form to help them to summarize the information.ii. Guide the students to find out the details.Guide the students who can learn to use the modal verbs to talk about the details.i.Scan the first reading material.ii.Communicate with the teacher.iii.Finish the form.iv. Talk about the form.Let the students find out the details and use the modal verbs to answer the questions.Reading practice of Doctor Knows letter(11 minutes)i.Organize the reading practice by presenting three questions.ii. Organize a group work to talk about the family rules.iii. Evaluate the group work.i.Get familiar with the usage of modal verbs.ii.Learn to talk about the family rulesiii.Perform the group work.Practice the usage of modal verbs. Get more familiar with the learning materials and try to communicate as a native speaker. Writing practice(15 minutes)Present a situation which the students need to write a composition with. Write a composition according to the materials the teacher gives by using the language points which are learned in this class. Learn to write down some advice about family rules according to previous practice.Summary & extension(4 minutes)i. Summarize the knowledge and make the students know that the growing pains are very necessary.ii.Lead to a new topic that the other rules are also important for us to followiii. Summarize all the rules and lead to a conclusion that people can live in a better world with rules.Try to extend and understand the topic with the help of the key words and the teacher.Consolidate what they have learnt today and get an extension.Homework(1 minute)Present the homework which is meaningful for the students to do now and in the future.
