Unit 10 If you go to the party, youll have a great time!(Section A 1a 1d) Part 1 Analysis of the Teaching Material.This topic is from PEP Book 1 of Grade 8, Go for it. The main topic of this unit is decision making. In this unit, students will learn to talk about consequences. Moreover, This is the first period of this unit. It is about having party which is closely related to our daily life and students dreams, so it is helpful to raise students learning interests and improve students listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.Part 2Analysis of the Students.Students at this age are very active, and they like activities. They are also curious about their emotional life, so such a topic: If you go to the party, youll have a great time! It will greatly attract their interests. On the other hand, the students have learned future tense for long, and have known the conditional adverbial clause if. Some of them are able to understand some target languages easily and interested in them. However, some others are in low spirit because they didnt learn well before. So it is necessary to review the if clause before class.Part3 Teaching Aims and Demands1. Knowledge aims:new vocabulary: jeans, have a great time, go to the partytarget language: I am going to the party. If you do, you will have a great time.grammar focus: conditional adverbial clause.2. Ability aims: learn to talk about consequences with conditional adverbial clause.3. Emotion aims:Look before you leap(Make students learn to think twice before they are going to do)Help each other and work together in our daily lives.Part 4 Teaching Key and Difficult Points. Key points: The vocabulary (jeans, have a party, have a great time) and the conditional adverbial clause (if,will) should be the key points of this period.Difficult points:How to master the conditional adverbial clause with “if”, especially its two tenses.How to train the students communicative skills.Part 5 Teaching Methods and aids In this Unit I will mostly use the situational teaching method and the communicative learning method and the task-based method.Solutions:In the whole teaching procedure, I will lead and encourage students to think more and speak more sentences with “if, will”pattern.I will let students do two pair-works , the first one is easier and then I will give them a summary about “if, will”sentence, and finally there comes the second creative and a little difficult pair-work.At the ending of this lesson, I will let them do a multiple choice to consolidate their grammar knowledge.Teaching aids: pictures, multimediaPart 6: Teaching procedures. Step1 Greetings & Leading First, listen a song “If you are happy” and then greet the students and introduce myself. In this step I will use free talk to lead in the new lesson like this “How are you today? I am happy today and if I am happy, I will laugh, sometimes I will eat something. If you are happy, what will you do? -If I am happy, I will go to the party”Main purpose: To arouse the students learning interests and to star the lesson with a more comfortable situation.Step 2 Words and phrases learning “If you go to the party, what will you do?”At the same time, I will use pictures to describe the new words and phrases to help students learn them and to strengthen their memory.After that, finish 1a (Match the statements with the pictures a-d)Step 3 Presentation I will show some pictures to set a scene dialogue. And lead them to use conditional adverbial clause.For example: 1. If you walk to school, what will happen? 2. If you study hard, what will happen?Then I will show the pictures of activity 1a, ask students to talk about the pictures one by one and help them to think about the consequences. If you do, youll )Main purpose: to present and help the students to master the key and difficult points.Step 4 ListeningIn 1b, I will ask the students to read the statements first and guess or imagine what will happen, and then let students to listen the material 3 times. For the first time, students just need to listen to it carefully, the second time is to finish the exercise, and the third time is to check the answer. Main purpose: to train the students listening ability.Step 5 Pair work After the listening finished I will write the 1c Pair-work on the blackboard, and ask students to practice in pairs. And then encourage some of them to role play it. After that, I will ask and encourage them to think more possible answers and talk about it in groups. After 3min I will encourage them to show their dialogue and let them to write a short dialogue in pairs. And I will tell them that those people who do well job will get gifts.Main purpose: to train the students communicative skills and master the target languages.Step 6 ExerciseIn order to strengthen the understanding and memory of the target language of students, I will let them to do some exercise at last.Main purpose: can strengthen students knowledgeStep 7 Homework1.
